I hope I don’t have to regret creating this thread… But I just can’t believe this man was shot dead having public debate - something we’ve been doing on here for years now regarding Indiana State athletics.

I’ve seen a lot of fucked up videos in my life but that close up video makes your stomach turn. I don’t care what side you are on, it’s horrible.

Common sense would say he died nearly instantly but there hasn’t been an official announcement of that and from what I read it says he is being treated at a hospital. Dont know how accurate any of that actually is but if these reports are slightly true, it is nothing short of a miracle

(not a miracle because he is republican but a miracle because he is a human. Getting that out of the way right now )

I really wish I didn’t get that text while I was on the road for work today - I wasn’t watching the road at all which was obviously not safe but I just couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. I had just watched a video last night of Charlie debating a student on Immigration. Just hard to fathom.

Is there an opportunity here to move back toward the middle politically? To agree there are common sense solutions to preventing violence - number one being to do a better job of providing and funding mental healthcare before we even get to the gun debate. The guy in NC shouldn't have even been out on the street but even now NC and other states are looking at steep cuts to federal funding for mental healthcare. Where are people like him supposed to be sent? The prisons aren't equipped to deal with them. And sending the National Guard into every city isn't going to prevent some nut from randomly stabbing or shooting people. What happened to Charlie Kirk is absolutely terrible, but no, I don't agree with him that "It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment”. These deaths are horrible. They should be mourned. They should not be politicized. Something should be done about it. Something sensible that doesn't involve further division and amplifying hate and misunderstanding. Tired of everyone making the other side the bogeyman.

I had just recently started watching some of the videos of him on YouTube. He was always welcoming and polite to people that disagreed with him. He will be missed by many. I pray for his family and our nation.

I don’t know Bent… you just politicized it entirely and then said it shouldn’t be done. Which is it?

I’m just not sure today is the day for “but…” but nothing and not just because I am Charlie Kirk fan and am Conservative myself. I have many friends and people I interact with daily who are not - I’m more likely to joke with them than perhaps my conservative friends.

Let’s say it was someone like Bill Maher that took that bullet today - as a man of faith I can say for certain my frustration and sadness would be nearly the same. I think inherently I probably relate more to Charlie as I have two young kids of similar ages so that part of me probably differs slightly.

But I’m not here to debate issues right now - perhaps you are as you brought a lot up (mental healthcare funding, gun control, national guard, second amendment). Another day perhaps. Not tonight.

Hopefully, nothing else happens to anyone else… I wouldn’t rule out this being a professional hit even perhaps by a foreign adversary - I think it’s easy to assume it’s a Liberal attack on a Conservative. Charlie had deep held international opinions as well - so I’d say anything is possible especially since they don’t have the shooter yet. I’m not so quick to jump on the most obvious conclusion… If it was just a conservative Trump haiting Liberal why only take out Charlie when you’ve got a huge crowd of conservatives at your mercy?

I agree it was a professional hit. He had the rifle sited in at the place he plan to make the hit. He was also talking about The Epstein files.

Yeah it’s a rabbit hole for me though… I thought the United Healthcare CEO murder looked like a professional hit and apparently I got that one wrong?! So hard to say for sure - but it’s quite obvious Charlie Kirk would have other enemies beyond just Liberal wacko’s.
