Posted this in another thread but it's interesting...From a Purdue board

If Indiana State opens, Micah Shrewsberry would have been a damn near lock there if he wanted it. Now, with Penn State on the horizon, probably not happening.

Maybe Lutz can get in on it, but I’ve always imagined him getting something in Texas or elsewhere in that part of the country.

Painter’s word will carry a lot of weight in ISU’s search with Sherard Clinkscales being AD there.

the other part of this is that Matt Painter and Greg Lansing have a good relationship and I’ve always pegged him as a guy Painter might hire one day.
That’s what I’m hoping for. Hoping that GL can land on his feet . Assistant job at Purdue is probably a better job that HC at ISU

My crystal ball tells me-
1- It's Micah Shrewsberry's if he wants it
2- Keep this one as -------. Michael Lewis- just telling
Will report later

This is admittedly a stretch, but with the Dan Dakich constantly being ensnarled in the some form scrutiny at ESPN. If he were to be open to the idea, and we contain curtail "liabilities" i.e. social media. I wouldn't mind seeing if we could make a competitive offer. His net worth is higher than his annual salary might suggest (currently making around 200K/year). He would recruit heavily from within Indiana. Has the experience and track record to put him at a mid-major coaching position or above. He would be pressing to get the most out of every player on the court. With all that said I don't really like him as a person or radio personality, but if those traits were heightened via a media/entertainment lens then I'd be hopeful that as a coach he'd have a little more humility and even temperament.

Kellen Sampson is a very interesting name to me from The Athletic list I posted above.

Probably too early to give him a real shot, but as the article states, someone is going to do it soon.

Kim English makes $310,000 at Tennessee.

He got to the final signatures with SEMO State last cycle before pulling out. https://www.knoxnews.com/story/spor...ols-semo-redhawks-coaching-search/2897402001/

I can't find SEMO's salary number for the coach they hired in English's place, but I'm assuming it was around $250,000. They paid their previous head coach $175,000.

I say all this to say, English should be a target and should be attainable.

(n)(n)(n)(n) No, I don't believe ISU has ever been on probation in any sport, certainly can't recall a time when the MBB team was on probabtion

Not saying young Sampson would follow in his father's footsteps but no.

Watching how this Loyola team operates, I wonder if one of their assistants might be on our list to target.

He hasn't been there long. If we target it a Loyola guy, it should be Valentine.

Yeah, I don't care for Bob Knight or his disciples at all.
Not really sure I'd consider him a BK disciple. He's spent a good amount of time under quite a few different coaches. Hell, if anyone, he's a Mike Miller disciple as I think that was his longest tenure position. He also was a big reason for "The Butler Way" when I was living in the area and talking to people in the know there. Also was a guy I'd see a ton out recruiting when he was at Butler.

As a Greg Lansing supporter until it is officially over....... I want someone to lead ISU in the right direction, i.e. wins!!!!
I started watching when Jerry Newson played (1967-68 season), started working for ISU in the 1979-80 season.....and
am still doing both. GO SYCAMORES.
Note: Keep an eye on the ISU baseball squad.....they have some great potential.
By the way....I collect ISU basketball game related materials.....if you want to sell or trade get in touch.....anything previous to
and including the 1979-80 season....thank you.
