Bret Campbell - old (60) will be 61 during 2021-22 season; a career losing Div I head coach (125-168 .427) at UT Martin AND some questionable $$ decisions

Doug Novsek - career assistant, has he never pursued a HC job or never landed one? I don't recall his first stint at ISU being one of tremendous success

Gouard... I don't see him leaving ISU_E, he just left U.Indianapolis for his alma mater

Mann... no clue, what's the reason for an opportunity?

They all are just as successful as Lansing was before he received the opportunity to be the coach at ISU. Mann has been a successful assistant in the Big 12, Big 10 and the MAC conference. That's more success than Lansing had before landing the job at ISU..

Your claim is that their record TODAY is "as successful" as Lansing's in July 2010?

Those coaches reputation, experience, qualification, creditability and yes record. Is just as good as Lansing's record was when he received the opportunity. Give someone else a chance. Lansing has done all he is capable of doing no hard feelings.

Lansing did a ok. Lets see if someone can do better .

Not sure you can lump Campbell in with the others on the "reputation, credibility" scale -- UT Martin NOT a power 5 program dismissed him for tipping into THEIR cash drawer...

Your perspective on "opportunities" and "chances" is interesting... NCAA Div I jobs aren't positions for "everyone to get their turn..."

Yes - he did but was it because it was "his turn," OR because Kevin McKenna left so late in the calendar/recruiting year that R. Prettyman didn't have a TON of time to find the BEST coach?

And Campbell also resigned for "unspecified reasons" at that FLA J.C. ...

Others have certainly done much worse and, as I recall, at least Ron Greene had a very generous salary package. (Data from the official ISU archives which seem to randomly include the MVC tournament results for some seasons)
Hodges last 3 seasons 15-36 in MVC play with a few NBA quality players.
Schellhase: 17-38
Ron Greene: 12-50
Locke: 33-56 - one season over 0.500
Dillard: 16-40
Waltman: 73-114 - 4 seasons over 0.500
McKenna: 24-30

Anyone else considered Archie Miller if he gets fired? He has built up a midmajor before and has recruiting experience in Indiana.

If these names that have been thrown around the last couple pages are what people consider suitable replacements, shutter the program.
Can a job that pays near the bottom of a middle of the pack mid major conference expect much more?

It’s also not like the current guy is failing - not exactly a situation in which the new guy will get a lot of positive momentum just by going .500 or so.

Yes. There are still a finite about of jobs in the Top Third conferences. Once you pull the power conferences out that of that grouping, if there is a guy that wants a good gig and believes in his ability, our job is attractive even at the salary level.

When the job opened last time around, at an event lower salary level -- Lansing was hired sub $200k, there was a pretty big list of candidates.

The sad part about Lansing leaving, we might loose some of his better recruits,
will Key come back for another year?
Jake, will he stay?
How about Williams?
Finally, Coop, but he already left a school, Butler, and will be a senior.
With a new coach, lot of growing pains, but GL had his chance, mediocrece.
Also with a new coach, new regime, better funding for the program.
Just my thoughts,

Just my thoughts,

Yes, with a coaching change, we'll have to offer releases to all of our players. That is a risk Clink is apparently willing to take.

Where are they going ? Transfer to be backups at Big 10, Big 12 Schools. I don’t see 1 ISU starter that starts on a contending Big 10 team.

Are there any obvious candidates from Clinkscales’ time at either Purdue or NC State? Someone he could have lined up so it makes sense for him to let Lansing walk?

To follow up on this, here are a couple from NC State. Not saying they are legit candidates, just spitballing ideas of coaches Clink has worked with before.

Lutz would be very interesting - he seems to be the best of that group. But his age probably excludes him from consideration.
