[December 30, 2023] Indiana State (11-1) at Michigan State (6-5)

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

It is posted thru 10 games leaving out two blowouts. Everyone has a bad game every once in a while.
I trust the coaching staff to recognize contributions and to try things.
You guys complain the starters play too many minutes and then criticize efforts to solve a problem like getting pounded on the boards by playing a veteran, big guard.
That “veteran big guard” got not thunder dunked on twice as he stood and watched and scored on too many times to count. If a “veteran” does that give me a rookie. Wolfe has brought NOTHING all year. Just because a person has played four years at a lower level which he did doesn’t instantly make him a player in a high mid major. I have been saying all season he is not capable of the play needed in the Valley and higher. It really showed this game!

You don’t understand how this works… Or maybe you do? In the event you or anyone else doesn’t we’re going to put this post to bed and anything else like it for good the rest of the season.

This forum has been around for a long time now - we discuss things here at a higher level than what you see on Facebook or other social media platforms. It’s not for everyone - players, coaches, administrators, fans, alumni etc will get called out. No one is above it - this is D1 athletics these “kids” have successfully positioned themselves in a world of NIL where they can earn money on their name and abilities alone. Then most certainly we can scrutinize them on this forum as it happened long before NIL and will continue on.

As for Wolfe, no one here isn’t saying he didn’t try his best… No one questioned his effort so just park it. He wasn’t good during his limited minutes and if that evaluation hurts your feelings then either provide some objection, read along or just move on all together. Wolfe isn’t the first and he won’t be the last player called out on this forum. If you think it’s personal trust me it’s not. So go be sanctimonious all you want - but all of us want one thing here and that’s Indiana State to be successful.

Using words like, “Idiots” “bash them” - this sort of rhetoric just gives me the impression that you either don’t understand how these forums work or you will just have a hard time getting along with anyone on this forum. What you just got offended by was quite mild in the grand scheme of things.

Happy New Year!

Yes, surely we can enjoy the team without ragging on one of our players. I heard this garbage last year about Miller and I've heard it about Larry too.

Just because that's the way it is doesn't make it right.

I don’t know what that even means backer? It’s not garbage it’s analysis - it’s an on going conversation about the state of our team. Not everything is perfect and if you want rainbows and butterflies then go somewhere else. This ain’t the place for that. It’s not for everyone!

This is what I like just talk and no name calling thank you

This forum has a really good feature where you can block/ignore people who comment in ways that you don’t like! It’s awesome.

So you can go block Eville and then you can go block me while you’re at it. But the good news is that you can see the posts of people who don’t “name call” and are just utterly positive about anyone and everyone!

It’s called the sycamore pride page for a reason! Have pride in the team love the team and support the team dude! Not call out names just have fun and good discussions about ISU and basketball in general! And call this a higher page or group because you can say things out loud or hurtful isn’t cool with a lot of fans

No reason to block you

No reason to block you

I will call players out by name negatively. Every reason to block me - you aren’t going to like that and that’s okay! Your way isn’t the wrong way - it’s admirable but it’s not the way of this forum. When people play good we say as much typically over exaggerated how good the play - when they play like shit we call them out by name and say they play like shit. That is not for everyone - but it’s how things go here.

You’re not going to change anything with this stance I assure you and no one here is trying to “be cool with other fans” or trying to be “above other fans”. This is just a community where we agree and disagree quite often but we speak openly about player performance. Are we always right? Hell no - someone is right because typically we have debate. Some people think Wolfe has been valuable - some don’t. So be it. This is sports - it’s D1 athletics these are big boys playing at the highest level. They will be okay… No one is calling them horrible people at life. We’re just discussing BASKETBALL..

So for example to sort of help you understand..

Watch 1:20 to 1:46 and watch Wolfe specifically. We’re 10 minutes into the game he gets an early run and he gets absolutely obliterated - if that guy is in the game for anything it’s for his defensive presence and understanding of the game. Watch those 20 seconds.

And some of you forget their parents and family members are both pages! So at least leave names initials or anything like that out of your comments would be better? Say what you want but it hurts them to see stuff like this and stuff like this makes kids want to leave the program

Forget? No one forgets that fact - parents and friends of players have visited this forum for years you know what happens? No matter if they were good or bad they leave the forum when the athlete graduates or transfers. Because they’re not in it for the long haul like all of us here.

Does it hurt? Hell yeah it hurts - if my kid was on the team or my best friend was on the team I’d either be on here throwing punches defending him or I would never event tempt myself to visit this forum. This is not a good place for athletes and families of athletes to visit. It wasn’t built for those groups of people especially if they can’t handle the heat.

I was on the way out of the arena yesterday and a nice Sycamore fan stopped me - proceeded to tell me his son was signed to play for us next year. Was a hell of a gesture for him to say hello. But at the end of the day that kid will be here for 4 years - maybe in this crazy environment. I will root on his kid as hard as I can and if he struggles I will say as much on this forum. And he will be gone and I’m going to do the same for every kid that walks through this program as long as @Jason Svoboda has the forum. Unapologetically.

I’ll call a truce to this topic. I trust HCJS and if he thinks he gets something from this player then I’m good with that. Let’s all move on and look forward to dancing in 2024!

As a rare second to your truce. I genuinely appreciate the sentiment of @Keeganlmcd1992 and what he’s had to say.

It’s just not the reality. These are the good times, if you don’t like what’s being said about ______ player during these times then definitely don’t visit the forum like most of us diehards that have posted during abysmal times. The majority of people here have earned the right to have whatever opinion they want - say as much and not be held to some standard of being hateful, negative and not wanting the best for Indiana State. Full stop.

This is a great reminder that most of folks here don’t have a relative on the team…we have either grown up a fan, attended school, donate money, decide to drive to East Lansing and back in 24 hours, support the team with the current, past and future players/coaches.

Folks give their observations about what they think went good or bad during a game and if anyone goes personal or out of hand-they will get called out. For example, Swope has been phenomenal, but if he makes a shitty pass and someone says that in a post-it’s not personal, it was just a shitty pass!

You make a very good case for having a 5 man roster.

You make a very good case for having a 5 man roster.

I mean not really. Bledson has been really good for us off the bench all year - he played well vs Michigan St the moment is never too big for him, he plays grown ass man ball and as we know can really share it.

Gray is still working his way back and as poor as Avila played I’d argue that Gray should have gotten more minutes than he did. I thought his rebounding alone was a reason to have him in the game as we got absolutely abused on the offensive glass - stuff that was leading to 3’s not 2’s.

So that’s 7 deep by my count and then you’d probably go Wolfe if you need him. He will matchup better and be more effective in the Valley. Michigan State picked on him pretty good but they picked on a lot of our guys.
