Deion Sanders.

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Utah will be Colorado's only real competition in the Big 12. Given the weak conference and the fact Deion will have recruited some defensive players, I expect they'll soon be in contention for national championships.

Once again, Sycamore football has created so much interest that the ISU message board is busily discussing a coach/team with no ties to Indiana that we will never play. If that doesn't tell you about the state of ISU football, nothing will...

And oh yeah, no one is discussing the actual ISU game that's happening today...

What is there to discuss though, right? Illinois State isn't very good, and we might be able to pull out a close one, but on the road, I doubt it. And is a win at this point anything to get excited about? Not really. The team stinks, our offense is borderline non-existent and boring to watch, we struggle to compete, and the best we can hope for is eking out a win or two against other bad MVC teams.

It’s his first season. Winning wasn’t the biggest goal. Establishing the norms of the program, the expectations etc. as well as building the brand and making kids want to be a part of it, those are the goals. And in those areas he is undefeated.

This was shared by espn during the game last night.

“Prior to Sanders being hired, 268,000 followers of the program on social media. Now, 2.18 million.

Out of state applications to the university are up 41%

$28,000,000 in donations to the athletic department (not just the football program) since the end of last season.

Each home game now brings in an estimated $18,000,000 to the Boulder economy.”

Yup! “Nuff Said”

It's interesting. This thread had died but you kept bumping it so it renewed my interest to go check in.

Maybe he should be 0-5 like us in the 37th year of the rebuild, eh?
Discussing Deion and Colorado Football. Wasn’t trying to bring up Sycamore Football.

Agree! Have to wonder if more "must keep football" folks will agree or disagree with this post?:unsure:

Oh I agree completely with that post by Bent20. We're beyond pathetic and I wish we could fire Mallory today!!! But we can't because ISU was so impressed with two consecutive losing seasons that they decided to give him a 5 year extension so that he could have 5 more losing seasons. This is literally year #1 of that extension ☹️☹️☹️.

I’m not going to keep getting into a back-and-forth on this subject but it’s worth repeating, this program is fundamentally broken and a lot of it has nothing to do with who is the head coach. So you can try and simplify it to a change in leadership but it’s not that simple. A LOT of other things at Indiana State would need to change for this program to ever be viable. So ya all can keep discussing Mallory and that’s fine - I get it. But the next guy will have the same issues - the product might be better and more entertaining to watch (that wouldn’t take much) but to consistently win it will never happen here.

Personally I can live with 4 or 5 win seasons if we're at least competitive most of the time when we lose. That's really all I ask for (being competitive). What we have right now is totally unacceptable.

Honestly, I've lived with it my entire life for ISU sports outside of baseball.
Right right. I know you don’t recognize track as a sport at Indiana State so I will spare you with how easy it is for me to not live with that…

Not sure why “living with” mediocrity makes it acceptable? Just because that’s all you’ve ever known doesn’t make it okay - it just makes it all you’ve ever known. I mean the context of this can be applied to so many things in life outside of sports but you can come up with those examples.

Literally nobody watches track unless it's the Olympics. It's not that I don't recognize it as a sport, but I just don't find it enjoyable to watch. If I want to watch people run for entertainment I'll just turn on an episode of Cops.

Hell even I don’t find it enjoyable to watch. I’m not making an argument for that. But you pretty much have completely just dismissed the programs because you don’t enjoy watching the sport - which honestly is fine that’s really not what my point was. My point is I’ve been a part of a successful program at Indiana State with shit facilities - I know it can be done. So I’m not going to accept 4 or 5 wins. That’s unacceptable and it’s been that way for pretty much my entire life. The program needs to be disposed of entirely.

Man, I just cannot imagine more of this. Maybe he will get hired by another program and step down. I’m just wishful thinking.
