Wow, this is some pretty awesome news for the basketball team. Should help bolster the ticket sales with so many Valley recruits. I still haven't seen the Eitels play, so I don't know what they can do.
Also,
According to Todd Golden,
"Inside journalism ethical baseball you probably don’t care about, but I hope no other media outlets (cough … local TV) “learn” about this without giving proper credit."
Channel 10 just reported it with credit given to only themselves...Todd's gonna be mmmaaaaaadddddddd. :) :)

Sometimes it seems like more than half the news TV reports comes from the paper. I don't think he'll really be mad. It's pretty much expected. At least fans who are paying attention know who had it first.

I know absolutely nothing about these guys other than what I'm reading here. Are they really that good to be worth the excitement?

Bold indicates players already committed to Indiana State. This is from a post of mine on another thread on 12/30. Next player to focus on John Michael Jarvis. You land him then worry about Gant. Then hire me as coach becuase these are the moves I said to make all before they happened.

I think you could form a pretty good D1 bball team around local tallent in the next 4 years. If I was the coach I would make all of these kids a priority. Not only would we have a good team, I think you would see attendance numbers rise. This is kind of like the womens team did a few years back with all the local women (Mel B. Kristen W.)

PG. Jake Odum 6"1 (Dunks,Pass, Dribble, Rebound, Defend) MVP type tallent makes everyone around him better.

SG. John Michael Jarvis 6"3 (Dunks, Shoots Lights Out) He elevates so well hes an explosive player if he could do a little more of the dribble hed be sick!

SG. RJ Mahurin 6"9 (Dunks, Shoots Lights Out) A little slow, a little soft but hey hes just a kid.

SF.Lucas Eitel 6"4 (Dunks, Shoots, Pass, Rebounds, Defends) Might be the best of the bunch. NOTE TO SELF: He is a SR. and unsigned. Not heavily recruited.

SF.Logan Eitel 6"4 (Dunks, Shoots, Rebounds) Not as good of ball handler as his brother. But if you get one you get the other. If Logan get's in a fight or foul trouble you could switch jerseys at half and bring back Lucas.

PF. Thomas Anderson 6"7 (Dunks, Rebounds, Defends) Big body might not have the tallent to ever start but you could bring him off the bench.

C. Justin Gant 6"9 (Dunks, Shoots, Rebounds, Defends) He would be the youngest of the group when we brought him in since he is only a Soph. at North. Let's see how this kid develops, he looks like he could grow 2 more inches. However rumor has it he has a short mom. Not that it means anything but just saying.

Give me all these kids and I would like to see what they could do. 4 years! The Zach Harrison kid from Terre Haute North is also a pretty nice player. The more and more I watch him the more and more I like his game. A year ago I would have said no way the kid is weak sauce. But hes a decent 2 guard might not ever play D1 but hes a nice player. Hes got a sweet little mid range pull up jumper.

Indiana State has a better walk on class than they do recruiting class...

Walk Ons
Jake Odum
Lucas Eitel
Logan Eitel

Scholarship
RJ Mahurin

In all fairness to RJ they only have 1 scholarship and he earned it. But I think the 3 walk ons are all better than RJ and will have better college carriers than RJ. It was a pretty smart move on RJ's dad and his move 2 years ago to go to the Tribune Star to commit to play for Indiana State as a Sophomore in High School. It brought a whole lot of attention to RJ and people like that kind of thing. Hes a local kid and he pretty much said I am going to Indiana State whether they give me money or not. It was a brilliant move on his part. Because I contend that he would not have been recruited by any other D1 programs and he is going to need a lot of work to make an impact at this level. Never the less I am very happy to see them adding good local talent.

I'm expecting a LOT more from RJ than you are. He's much better offensively than 95% of the big guys we've had. Last time I checked he was shooting 72% on 2fg. I think he may be able to score inside of 10 ft which will benefit us greatly.

I'm not counting on huge contributions from the twins. I think they are similar to Printy but they probably don't have his range. Athletically, mid-major is their absolute limit and they must complement that with pure basketball skills the way Cruse and Renn did.

Last week at the Pizza Hut Classic I heard from some of the other coaches involved in the tourny and South fans that Jake Odum will not be going to ISU because schools like IU, Mich. and other Big 10 schools have entered the picture and have a scholarship to offer that ISU does not have at the current time. Has anyone else heard this as well? He is not a great shooter and kind of cocky but when he is determined to take over a basketball game he can do that with his ability to take his opponent to the basket off the dribble.

Also heard that Ohio St. is really high on John Michael Jarvis -- he set a record for most 3's made in a game and tournament. What does the scholarships look like for '10-'11 (high school Jr.'s) in regards to the number available?

I really hope ISU does not lose Odum, he seems like the real deal.

Dude is the real deal and I told you people before the Classic started that ISU was gonna loose him because they have one scholarship to offer and its going to RJ. Heck yes someone is going to offer the kid some money he can flat out play. He does not have the grades to get into IU no chance. Just from what I have heard.

A lot of people are going to be high on Jarvis. I havent heard the Ohio State talks yet, but if that is indeed true I am sure I will hear more on it in the very near future.

Eitels are way better than Pritney. Have you seen Lucas and Logan play?? Totally different players. More confident, more physical, and smart basketball players. Read the article man! Not to mention they are walking on! Please refrain from comparing them to current scholarship players who are below average.

I believe there will only be two scholarships available for 2010-11. We have three juniors, Reed, Crawford and Marshall, but Marshall is on a non athletic scholarship. I believe we will only have Reeds and Crawfords. The question is, do we have an arrangement with Odum to play one year and then get a scholarship for the next three? Or is he going to get a schollie somewhere down the line from another player? Or is he not going to get one at all? If he gets one at the start of his second year, then we will be hurting to recruit anyone with only one scholarship for 10-11. We better make it count.....

Did you see Printey play in HS? He was a Mr. Basketball candidate in Iowa and was a very good all-around player - as good or better than the Eitels.

Your biases have shown so much in your posts and you are so cocky that your opinion carries no weight.

Odum is a preferd walk on so yeah he gets a scholarship when it becomes available. I have heard he will Red Shirt his Fresh year anyways...

My biases... What my local bias? I don't know any these kids from Adam... I am just telling it the way I see it and for some reason you have a problem with that. Prolly cuzz I know more than you.

What are you from Iowa? Who do you know in Iowa? Whats your connection? You a friend or related to coach?

Mr. Morgan (who is always right) explain why we do not have a scholarship for Odum. As far as any info that's been released, we have two openings for next year.

Also, the last I heard Harry was on an athletic schollie so we should have 2 for next year and 3 for following year.

I'm just saying I saw Printy play part of a HS game and you are underestimating him. There is no question that I can evaluate talent better than you can and I guess all of the MVC coaches must agree with me about the Eitels.

odum will walk on (and redshirt) his first year and has been told he will get a scholarship the following year. as far as giving him the available scholarship now (stinson's), he has been told that will be used for a big. my sources are impeccable.

It's Printy, not Pritney or however else you all are spelling it, can we get that part right in this discussion at least??

Don't forget too we have Dwayne Lathan playing for ISU next year too. And I hear he's REALLY good.

I share everyone's concern about losing Odum, but I'm sure we all agree that we need a good big. I just hope we can get one. We also have to remember that a lot of the things Odum does in HS to score will not be available in D1.

From what i SAW in the blue/white scrimmage this year Lathan is by far the best player/athlete combination we have. He has the quickness of Marshall and seemed to be a better shooter than anyone else on the floor. He will help us tremendously next season. Things are definately looking up if we can hang onto these guys "committed" to coming in next season!
