But from my understanding is he will tell you Deb Curtis and her husband are two of the bigger supporters of Indiana State and Josh Schertz and I know for a fact that in the last 3 or 4 days that Curtis and Schertz have met one-on-one. Which would seem to contradict this narrative that they hate one another and that she’s trying to sabotage Indiana State.

She’s made many blunders and we’ve had threads committed to it.. This thing is far bigger than her and the initial contract JS was locked into. The real donor money didn’t start pouring in until the last 30 days or so. That’s when things got serious.

Sorry for taking your response so personal. I guess i took it wrong. I am just over this whole thing. I would never have though JS would put us in a bad spot to get screwed over but it seems like that is what is happening. We gave him his big break and we'll get raked over the coals for it. Whatever, it always end with us holding the short straw, not sure why i thought this would be any different.

It's clear as topo Chico could possibly ever be. You get the full team returning basically. And remember the full team is returning in an era where no other teams are going to have that type of continuity across the NCAA. Advantage in the MVC and advantage in the NCAA tournament.

If you can’t offer the guy a contract that he deserves because you can’t afford it, let’s say $600,000 of university funds… he comes back and says OK I’ll accept your offer of 350 but you need to lower my buyout. What leverage do you have? What leverage do we have right now? If he says hey, I’ll come back but I want a Nike contract you’re gonna give it to him if he comes back and says hey, I’ll accept your 1.3 million but here’s where I want the buyout to be you’re probably going to say okay - because he’s put himself in the position where he’s got all the leverage.

Put it like this - if you caught wind in the last month that Josh Schertz didn’t accept a new contract this year, because Indiana state was unwilling to lower the buyout. You’d be on here saying the exact same thing that Deb Curtis is the reason Josh Scherz isnt under a new contract - because she was unwilling to accept his terms and now he’s leaving.

So she couldn’t win because she’s the easy person to blame. She always has been.

Im putting 50% on Deb, 40% on SSOM just because, and 10% on BlueBleeder for coming here at all, but you cant prove that BlueBleeder didn't cause the whole thing with one of his posts.
 
I’ve been pretty salty about this whole thing and Schertz’s handling of it. What has really pissed me off this last week is seeing how many people on here started talking themselves into believing he may actually stay. Not pissed off at any of you. Pissed off at him for giving you reason to feel that way. He was gone as soon as he callously started following their donor. It’s one thing to leave, it’s another thing to play with people’s emotions.

I wish i had the power to be responsible for all this, because if I was you could bet your ass things would have been handled differently.

Schertz has become Indiana's basketball darling that can't be matched by any state. $$$
* Indiana Media has unmeasurable monetary value for his brand. $$$
* If he stays, he retains players.
* Top 20 preseason ranking next season.
* Team continuity and chemistry advantage that no team can match in this era of NCAA bball.
* Long term... ISU can easily be his best landing place for a mind like Schertz.
 
I dont know why he would have committed but not just told everyone and been willing to coach the NIT out like he did last time unless he was still playing the field. I would be fine with any coach doing that. Maybe not the NCAA but had that happened we would likely be done by now. I also wouldnt have minded if our administration would have pulled the Woody Hays/bo schembechler and told him to GTFO as soon as he told us. I hope he got an offer, said he thinks he will take it but wont decide till after the NIT is done and will still entertain offers. He also has to have an idea if he can return these 5 and also what jobs might pop open next season.
