Seriously. It's as bad as politics. This person I don't like is completely incompetent and incapable of doing her job....but also, she's completely masterminded all of these schemes to work perfectly against us.

That is the rumor but it doesn't make sense. It should be the opposite.
If it really was about him being the highest paid person on campus, then she would want the buyout as high as humanly possible. In this instance, she extended him for more money (and more than she made) AND then also lowered his buyout. She lost on all fronts and even the worst negotiator in the world would have got something out of the deal.

If you can’t offer the guy a contract that he deserves because you can’t afford it, let’s say $600,000 of university funds… he comes back and says OK I’ll accept your offer of 350 but you need to lower my buyout. What leverage do you have? What leverage do we have right now? If he says hey, I’ll come back but I want a Nike contract you’re gonna give it to him if he comes back and says hey, I’ll accept your 1.3 million but here’s where I want the buyout to be you’re probably going to say okay - because he’s put himself in the position where he’s got all the leverage.
Put it like this - if you caught wind in the last month that Josh Schertz didn’t accept a new contract this year, because Indiana state was unwilling to lower the buyout. You’d be on here saying the exact same thing that Deb Curtis is the reason Josh Scherz isnt under a new contract - because she was unwilling to accept his terms and now he’s leaving.
So she couldn’t win because she’s the easy person to blame. She always has been.

Yes, you make it difficult because you talk to people like they are morons. I had heard from multiple sources she was the reason for lowering the buyout, if thats not true, you could simply say thats not true, here us what likely really happened. She has done more than enough to earn the blame around here and it seems logical she would do something like that after everything else. If what i said is wrong, fine. I never claim to be right about everything, just shared what I had heard.

Okay. Well, I certainly didn’t mean to insinuate you or anyone else was a moron, so if that’s what happened here or that’s what you felt I’m sorry.
And I will say in closing that - other programs like SLU would love nothing more than for us to blame all of this on eachother, our donors, our fan base and our school. They would love for us to collectively be divided over this and point the figure right back at us.
I’m unwilling to be divided on this I’m gonna stand on the side of Indiana State and my community. Because the fact of the matter is players and coaches will always come and go - unless your John McNichols and you literally die a Sycamore. Us fans were always gonna be the ones left, and I’d rather be united and together, then against one another.

Doubling down on Twitch's point, if she truly wanted to stick it to Clink, she would have just not extended HCJS.
The reality is everyone involved has culpability in the situation and I think just putting it on Deb is too convenient. I'm also really questioning things now based on how things have played out for someone that "hasn't made a decision" yet.

It all really just depends on who you talk to… I haven’t talk to Mike Alley directly one of our larger donors and supporters of the basketball program. But from my understanding is he will tell you Deb Curtis and her husband are two of the bigger supporters of Indiana State and Josh Schertz and I know for a fact that in the last 3 or 4 days that Curtis and Schertz have met one-on-one. Which would seem to contradict this narrative that they hate one another and that she’s trying to sabotage Indiana State.
She’s made many blunders and we’ve had threads committed to it.. This thing is far bigger than her and the initial contract JS was locked into. The real donor money didn’t start pouring in until the last 30 days or so. That’s when things got serious.
