He was on 1070 today and all but confirmed. Go to the 1hr 12 min and 30 seconds portion.
Once again, I'm totally sure that this coach, who won't even tell his friends in Terre Haute what's going on, would totally tell a dumbass reporter from an irrelevant newspaper in another city the he and half his team are gone - while they're still playing. And for a championship. If Schertz is that stupid, SLU can have him, because that would be one of the most epic stupid moves of all time...

Nobody is listening to Greg D.

I hope he stays, but don’t be fooled into thinking because he wouldn’t be saying anything at this point to them that these people aren’t still hearing from a good source. I am guessing the leaks are coming from SLU, and it seems that they are very confident it is a done deal.

That's true, but Doyel explicitly states that he had a "private conversation" with Schertz last night, and that he and the team will be going to St. Louis. That, at the very least, implies that Schertz told this to Doyel.

Now Doyel could be using turns of phrase to hide that he also talked to Ross Chaifetz who fed him this info, he and just attributed it to Schertz. Wouldn't surprise me. But the interview definitely sounded like he was saying, "Josh told me this."

And "journalists" wonder why trust in media is at an all time low. Maybe if they weren't just interested in clicks, and actually told the truth? Nahhhh...

Doyel is an idiot. Plain and simple. He tried to derail this entire program when we rightfully let Lansing go. Then doesn't even mentioned us in 2.5 years. Then he comes to 1 game and writes 1 article - we are ranked in the top 25 the next week. And the guy goes all over twitter saying that he is the reason the sycamores are top 25 because of his "influence". I mean just think about how disrespectful that is to the coaches, players, administration, fans, community for all their hard work for YEARS that rightfully earned that top 25 ranking and some dude with a pencil takes credit? get out here. Of course he comes in hot during our NIT run and acts like he has "breaking news" and literally writes another article about well known rumors that everyone has known for the last 4 weeks. Schertz isn't telling Doyel anything.

That bridge was burnt a decade plus ago. He is self centered and selfish enough I don't see that relationship being repaired to a working relationship even if they are building a shrine to him opening in a few months.

never met him but from a NUMBER of interviews with people who know him the BEST... he's a very PRIVATE person, esp. when it comes to personal issues, odds are quite high, he'll never be shamed into donating more than he does, IF he does now...

if he's never been a donor, generous or otherwise -- doubt it will begin with posts on this, other forum. Have ready many times that he hasn't, doesn't donate but I'm leery of people making that claim b/c he strikes me as the type that any donation would be as anonymous as possible and IF that become public -- ISU wouldn't get a second one.

Larry and his wife were recognized at the Basketball banquet this past September (not sure if that's what it is called-but the week of the golf outing). The level they were recognized at is an annual donation of $10k or more.

I couldn't wake up hating Doyel more. but somehow he managed to prove me wrong
Why Doyel got into the industry: "the pen is mightier than the sword."

What Doyel became "the pen is mightier than the sword."
