Doyle needs to take Jounalism 101, He is just looking for readers and make some noise!!! I believe many years ago their was a college called Parsons, anyone could get into it, but it closed down, that's where Doyle could have taken Jounalism 101

That's true, but Doyel explicitly states that he had a "private conversation" with Schertz last night, and that he and the team will be going to St. Louis. That, at the very least, implies that Schertz told this to Doyel.

Now Doyel could be using turns of phrase to hide that he also talked to Ross Chaifetz who fed him this info, he and just attributed it to Schertz. Wouldn't surprise me. But the interview definitely sounded like he was saying, "Josh told me this."

And "journalists" wonder why trust in media is at an all time low. Maybe if they weren't just interested in clicks, and actually told the truth? Nahhhh...
How is it a "private conversation" if he's turning around and reporting it?

People on Billiken board are now panicking and making lists of other HC candidates. Kinda funny if it works out that way.

I keep hearing positive vibes, with multiple predictions at 90/10 he stays. Fingers crossed. Don’t want this to end tonight.

Just read through it. Their core posters still believe nothing has changed. That dreaded 48-72 hour window is officially upon us.

There is no way SLU will let him sit on his hands for very long after that final horn sounds if he is a "done deal" there.

What is so great about this discussion is that SLU fans are worried. That speaks volumes of the respect they have for what this team is accomplishing. Schertz very well may leave. That's obvious. Quite a few players may all get offers from much bigger schools, let alone SLU. The respect alone is amazing, although it is difficult to imagine this all ending.

Enjoy the moment. This glimpse of the sun in a long history of clouds should remind us all to support the program. As a young kid the Bird era was amazing--the Sycamores were the first sports team of any kind which I was a fan in fact. The Menser years were fun. This era is even better although they've not danced. Each time was a great pleasure, electrifying in many ways. The way through the in between years is fervent support in hopes of shortening the cloudy periods. It's always been worth it and always will.

Even the most novice basketball fan would see a coaching move to SLU from ISU as a significant downgrade at this point. Schertz has resurrected a beast of a program. SLU folks have to recognize this by now. If Schertz goes to SLU it might rank as one of the poorest coaching moves of all time. He is smarter than this.
Go 🌲🌴 TREES.

It's Coach decision. Doesn't matter if anyone think it's the right move or not. He's proven he can build a program. It is what it is. Hope he stays. NIT championship let's go.

I mean it absolutely does matter if we think it's the right move or not! I'm sorry, but you don't get to decide what matters to people and what doesn't - but like I said for awhile we will have plenty of time to discuss that. For today... I'm not really too worried about it. I've got to allow myself the opportunity to enjoy this moment and appreciate it for what it is and what it has been. Tomorrow... or whenever that time comes to react to a decision either way - we will sort that out.

What will not change is:

1. Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley delivered... We've been questioned for decades now if we would even support a "winning" team. I think we here in this community have more than answered that question. I think many haters owe this place I've called home my entire life an apology - we've proved to be some of the most passionate fans in the country and I'm damn proud to have defended and fought for them for years.

2. Indiana State has been nothing short of spectacular! For as much as they fucked up the baseball post-season they should be applauded for a job well done during the last couple months really but especially this NIT run. It hasn't been without flaw - they've made some mistakes and some things could have been better. But for the most part they've put on a heck of a show/party inside the Hulman Center and accommodated some massive crowds. I'm as proud today to be a Sycamore as I ever have been and that's saying something.

3. The Administration/Athletic Department/Foundation/Alumni Association/Donors/Alums... These people have all stepped up and done everything they freaking can to try and keep this coach and this team here in Terre Haute. No one can ever say - that they didn't try everything to try and keep this party going! For our entire life Indiana State Basketball has not been a highly coveted job in college basketball our budget has been among the lowest in the Valley and mid major college hoops. Regardless of what JS does - in less than 30 days it became the highest paying job in the MVC, one of the most difficult places to play in the country and one of the most coveted jobs in mid major college sports.

4. And last but not least what this team accomplished... If he decided to blow up this entire program and his future we will discuss that - but even doing so it won't take away for me what an incredible ride this has been, how fun and special this team has been to watch - probably one of the most entertaining teams I've ever watched in all of sports. The way they shoot it, share it, compete night in and night out, play for each other and embrace the fans/kids/community has been remarkable. I will never forget this group and what they have accomplished.

I've enjoyed sharing this season with you all! Have a good time tonight my friends.

During the Spoonhower days and to a lesser extent when Majerus coached there, there was moderate interest in the program. During the Spoonhower tenure they were playing in the Enterprise Center and had really good attendence, and that was partly because Charlie was a folk hero of sorts. But other than that the interest is average at best. If HCJS makes the move it will be because of the money. When the SLU rich kids get bored, Biff and Buffy will drive their BMW down to the lake for the weekend.

Twitch, we haven't always seen eye to eye on here, and that's okay. But we are united in our fierce passion for Indiana State. Brother, you nailed it with this post. Cheers and GO SYCAMORES!!

It's hard to imagine losing such a great coach, and consequently a great group of players who would undoubtedly go with him or enter the portal. One thing is for certain though, and that is that the ISU fans have shown up this season and made some noise and we can't let that end if Schertz and team leave. We need to show up and make noise every game. This program has all the potential in the world, and a strong fanbase is a key factor in helping a program develop into a dynasty. But first and foremost a great program and a dynasty require a top notch coach and top notch talent on the court year after year, so here's to hoping that Schertz and the team run it back next year.

Everything you said except is 100 except that first part. We will discuss that later.

If that’s a battle your willing to lose then I can’t wait… 😜

Honestly, though not sure how you can argue that he has the right to make a decision where he coaches and we as fans only have the right to accept his decision.

It doesn’t work that way! Hopefully, we don’t have to have the conversation. That would be the preferred outcome.

Until then 🍻

He has the right to decide where he wants to coach and your opinion doesn't mean squat. If you think different, I don't know how you come up with this stuff.

Want to compliment Schertz on his handling of Doyel... Called Doyel out publicly with respect. Indiana Media (which ranks with the best - Doyel excluded) is embracing ISU now... can't imagine any other media market able to compare. Example: St. Louis media Lol 😂
