How is it a "private conversation" if he's turning around and reporting it?That's true, but Doyel explicitly states that he had a "private conversation" with Schertz last night, and that he and the team will be going to St. Louis. That, at the very least, implies that Schertz told this to Doyel.
Now Doyel could be using turns of phrase to hide that he also talked to Ross Chaifetz who fed him this info, he and just attributed it to Schertz. Wouldn't surprise me. But the interview definitely sounded like he was saying, "Josh told me this."
And "journalists" wonder why trust in media is at an all time low. Maybe if they weren't just interested in clicks, and actually told the truth? Nahhhh...
What on earth happened a decade ago? That bridge was burnt a decade plus ago. He is self centered and selfish enough I don't see that relationship being repaired to a working relationship even if they are building a shrine to him opening in a few months.
People on Billiken board are now panicking and making lists of other HC candidates. Kinda funny if it works out that way.
I keep hearing positive vibes, with multiple predictions at 90/10 he stays. Fingers crossed. Don’t want this to end tonight.
It's Coach decision. Doesn't matter if anyone think it's the right move or not. He's proven he can build a program. It is what it is. Hope he stays. NIT championship let's go.
Twitch, we haven't always seen eye to eye on here, and that's okay. But we are united in our fierce passion for Indiana State. Brother, you nailed it with this post. Cheers and GO SYCAMORES!!I mean it absolutely does matter if we think it's the right move or not! I'm sorry, but you don't get to decide what matters to people and what doesn't - but like I said for awhile we will have plenty of time to discuss that. For today... I'm not really too worried about it. I've got to allow myself the opportunity to enjoy this moment and appreciate it for what it is and what it has been. Tomorrow... or whenever that time comes to react to a decision either way - we will sort that out.
What will not change is:
1. Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley delivered... We've been questioned for decades now if we would even support a "winning" team. I think we here in this community have more than answered that question. I think many haters owe this place I've called home my entire life an apology - we've proved to be some of the most passionate fans in the country and I'm damn proud to have defended and fought for them for years.
2. Indiana State has been nothing short of spectacular! For as much as they fucked up the baseball post-season they should be applauded for a job well done during the last couple months really but especially this NIT run. It hasn't been without flaw - they've made some mistakes and some things could have been better. But for the most part they've put on a heck of a show/party inside the Hulman Center and accommodated some massive crowds. I'm as proud today to be a Sycamore as I ever have been and that's saying something.
3. The Administration/Athletic Department/Foundation/Alumni Association/Donors/Alums... These people have all stepped up and done everything they freaking can to try and keep this coach and this team here in Terre Haute. No one can ever say - that they didn't try everything to try and keep this party going! For our entire life Indiana State Basketball has not been a highly coveted job in college basketball our budget has been among the lowest in the Valley and mid major college hoops. Regardless of what JS does - in less than 30 days it became the highest paying job in the MVC, one of the most difficult places to play in the country and one of the most coveted jobs in mid major college sports.
4. And last but not least what this team accomplished... If he decided to blow up this entire program and his future we will discuss that - but even doing so it won't take away for me what an incredible ride this has been, how fun and special this team has been to watch - probably one of the most entertaining teams I've ever watched in all of sports. The way they shoot it, share it, compete night in and night out, play for each other and embrace the fans/kids/community has been remarkable. I will never forget this group and what they have accomplished.
I've enjoyed sharing this season with you all! Have a good time tonight my friends.
Everything you said except is 100 except that first part. We will discuss that later.I mean it absolutely does matter if we think it's the right move or not! He has the right to decide where he wants to coach and your opinion doesn't mean squat. If you think different, I don't know how you come up with this stuff.Honestly, though not sure how you can argue that he has the right to make a decision where he coaches and we as fans only have the right to accept his decision.
Are you implying that he doesn't have the right to have an opinion, and to voice that opinion? He has the right to decide where he wants to coach and your opinion doesn't mean squat. If you think different, I don't know how you come up with this stuff.
