WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Would it make you anymore upset if I told you that the money your donating might actually be going to the players that are planning on leaving, since the coach distributes it? Are there any actual guarantees that that doesn't happen and the money is held back for next year's team?
Huh? I don’t think they are giving them the money now. It is a season by season thing. This money we are giving now will be used on players that are on next year’s team.

@Sycamorefan96 The players get paid monthly… It’s not a lump sum and this isn’t the lottery where they get to decide.

Would it make you more upset if I told you that people that have enough money to donate toward an NIL collective are smart enough to realize that it could quite possibly go to players who eventually leave… I know you feel like you just unearthed something but you didn’t.

What if coach and players said they would stay as long as SSOM states publicly that he loves the new logo and has to mean it.
Quick! Someone call HCJS and tell him this! I guarantee it will ensure the whole team and staff come back next year!!!

I agree. IF he stays I think he could keep the whole team.

If he stays that means we were able to put enough money together to keep players. Having said that, what do you think the number is we need for NIL funding? $400,000 for next year?

Big Ten teams can afford 200,000 for a good player. They would probably want Conwell or Kent.

Oh, I am aware, but i imagine there is a "home team discount" number these guys would take and stick together. Not saying that they should or shouldn't, but they all strike me as high character down to earth people who would stay together if they got a decent enough NIL deal, wven though it may not be a top end deal. However, I don't expect them to stick around for pennies on the dollar either.

I just saw a post where the coach turned down the Florida Atlantic and Louisville mbb jobs
Certainly hope he stays at isu but let’s be realistic
The fired coach at the university of St Louis was being paid $2.5 a year
At most ISU is paying coach $350k a year
Loyalty be damned
You do the math

No one is going to do be doing any math…

Indiana State has offered him an extension. In the $900k to $1.3 million range. Likely, a 5 year deal with a larger buyout.

To you or anyone else that thinks it’s all about the money you’re ignoring a lot of other really important factors that must be taken into consideration.

The day after ISU WINSthe NIT, he will be named the new coach at St Louis

If not and he stays at ISU I will go on this site and admit I was totally wrong, but I don’t think I am

If you think this is about being “right” and being “wrong” I can’t help you…

So, don’t come back on here on my account and admit to anything because I’m not keeping score. I think regardless of the outcome most InState fans will be united on the reaction.

Our best chance is there is a coach on the hot seat that didnt get fired this year at a location that he wants to be at. Hard to say where his dream job is. I doubt its SLU but if thats the best place available i could understand the money

Villanova and Indiana are two high major programs with that will likely turn over next cycle depending on how things play out. One that is 50/50 is Kentucky just because Cal's buyout will still be absolutely massive. Was $30m+ this year and will be mid $20s next. Hell, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and probably a couple other Big Ten jobs could open next year, too.

One opening that would possibly surprise people but I could see it is Tom Izzo retiring at Michigan State. Likewise for Hamilton at Florida State and Larranage at Miami. Dana Altman at Oregon has been rumored at kicking the tires of retirement, too.

I think next year there will be many more HM openings than there was this year.

Case in point:

The inverse to this is not being able to provide peanut butter for the bagels in the coaches office.
