Fudōtokuna: $chertz to $LU

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Wake up! this isn't something that started this week. He had conversations with SLU and god knows who else while we were still in the MVC season. Had it set prior to and met with Daddy war bucks Chaifetz DURING the MVC tournament. He has planned this probably before Debbie messed with Clink and that was the icing on the cake.

I am sorry I have held this in till today, but this Golly Gee thank you coach for this year needs to stop with the SLU press conference. He did nothing more than his job which was to win basketball games. IF he wants to treat ISU as a stepping stone then we need to do the same. We need to use him as a stepping stone to a better coach and not settle for just doing the easiest path of least resistance which is go the Interim with Graves. Schertz played boosters, doners and fans at ISU to the end leading people on and on with fake hope till last night.
Who do you have in mind this late in the process?

Actually you’re wrong on that! They only showed up when we are winning and that’s it! During Odums years they showed up only when winning and then stopped until last year and still never showed up! And this year only when we played big games or started winning aka fair weather fans it happens all the time! We will be back to less then lower bowl fans so Terre hate only shows up when they have money or when they feel like it not real fans! Facts are facts prove me wrong!
To be fair you pretty much described all fan bases, with maybe a couple of exceptions (like Nebraska football). It's not like people hate ISU, they just don't want to go watch a losing team.

Chill bro. I'm not arguing that this hasn't been in the works or a done deal for a month. That's pretty obvious and has been this whole time. I'm not saying "Golly Gee thank you coach". If he's leaving I hope the door doesn't hit him on the way out. Mid-major schools are stepping stones for coaches and players, and the NIL and transfer portal contribute to that even more now.

The only thing in your response that has anything to do with what I said is this below, and I respectfully disagree. At this stage, considering the school likely hasn't begun to pursue any HC replacements, Graves is the obvious choice. He knows the program already and won't be completely starting from ground zero like a newcomer would be. Maybe the first floor, but not ground level.
Sorry, this wasn't aimed at you it was more the last post when i said it. It was more aimed at people wanting to hold him as a god. you and I are good.
As far as Graves, Schertz played us and now we don't have much of a choice but Graves.

Honestly, I would target Johnson the Purdue asst. hard. He has the ability to bring 2 or 3 players from Purdue's bench that could be great MVC players but not see the light of day in the Big Ten that he has developed relationships with. This would be better than a D2 who can't bring anything with him. If Schertz is going to do it why can't we?????

Maybe we need to hope schertz sticks around a while longer and continues to do his job. If not then I hope they already have graves locked in. If that was the plan all along then I guess it may work out ok. Let's hope so.

So Schertz tweeted that this morning?
Bear in mind, until he breaks the news to ISU he can still technically say "our program", and he may just be in appeasement mode for the fans after last night's heartbreaker. Maybe he has the heart to not crush everyone inside a 24-hour period.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong (and wishful thinking) and we can run it back in '24-'25. 🤞

Best case scenario is Schertz pulls a Matt Logie and returns last minute. For those that don't know Matt Logie is the Montana State coach who was reportedly going to take the Wazzu St job.

I'm referring to the die-hards. The life-bloods of the university, the people that bleed blue. The ones that will go to bat for Indiana State for Terre Haute for everything the program/school stands for regardless of circumstance. The fans that are showing up and cheering just as hard for a 1-33 season as a 33-1 season. Trust me, we are out there. I'm guessing by your replies on ole' sycamorepride you aren't one of those. I stand with the @SycamoreStateofMind and @Jason Svoboda of the world. Regardless of what happens we are Sycamores. I don't give 2 shits about any other program in this country
I agree with you that there will always be die-hards but you, twitch, and Jason aren't going to be able to fund the NIL alone. We need to make it apparent to the fairweather Facebook fans that we need their help and support to sustain the program going forward whether we have Schertz or not. I am not sure how the university can make that known but they need to realize they have the opportunity to make the program great and lasting going forward. The program doesn't have to end after this season but without their help it will be an awfully hard uphill battle.

While we are all diehards, fact is casuals vastly outnumber diehards for any team.

Future of the program might depend on how willing the Facebook group is to fund NIL. SycamorePride might need to make a concerted effort to blitz the Facebook group for NIL fundraising.
I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that 99% of those FB people don’t even remember that ISU has a basketball team at this time next year. That’s why they’re over there posting “positive comments” about players each week. They are, as a group, totally clueless.
