What's up Sycamores? Today I've got a special treat to announce -- Coach Miles has agreed to answer your questions! You'll recall we've done this with Coach Lansing and we didn't want to leave out our rising Sycamore football program so here is your chance to ask Coach Miles whats on your mind.

I will keep submissions open until next Friday, June 3rd, then I will compile the questions and get them over to Coach to answer. Please keep in mind that there are some questions he cannot answer due to University policy or NCAA rules, so if you know you're asking something that may be out of bounds, may as well not waste your time.

Anyhow, the floor is now open for your questions!

Coach Miles, you have done a tremendous job in a very short time of bringing the Sycamore program back to a competitive level. With the continuing changing of coaching staffs at the FCS level, what are the three most important things that you feel are necessary to sustain the program at a level where you can compete for conference championships and get to the playoffs on a consistent basis?

Secondly, what are you most proud of with the current status of the program and the players?

Over the years, tailgating for Sycamore games has been lackluster (but improving in the past 5 years) I have always contested this is due to the continual moving of "tailgating" spots over the years and not allowing people to tailgate on the East side of the stadium. Will there be any changes or planned changes to the tailgating/parking for games this year to allow for reserved spots for tailgaters? Many would pay money to reserve a spot, fraternities would pay to have a specific spot, etc. This could mean revenue for the program...

The big freshman classes you brought in after first taking over the program have matured into strong juniors and seniors. For a while the roster was lopsided with young talent and now it seems to be evening out. We have several redshirt freshmen. Has your rebuilding of the roster gone as expected and is it now where you want it to be?

Over the past 3 years, there seems to have been a revival of former Sycamore football players being more active, visible and involved. Alumni Foundations are being created, public fund raisers are more successful, sports marketing is reminding us of our successful history, etc.

How important is it for former Sycamore Players to be active and visible during the recruiting period AND playing career for current/prospective athletes? And is the success of those alumni outside of the gridiron as important as what they did while on the field for recruiting - and respect of the program?

I could not be more proud of coach and the success he had this year. I would like to know how much influence he has on future schedules; what BCS schools have we scheduled besides IU, Purdue, Minnesota, and Penn State.

Now that Pat Burke is gone, who has the fastest tongue (as in smart remarks) on the team?
Last year in an interview after being asked about the returned punt that was blocked by the opposing team, Pat remarked 'What? I thought coach called that play?"

Alex Trebek said you didn't pose this in the form of a question.

What is the one thing at this point in the football program's resurgence that you feel is essential to the continuation of the progress you have made so far?

We seem to be kind of thin at the defensive line positions. Is that a concern for you for next fall?

Why do you not allow football players to participate in indoor/outdoor track, especially the players who could do very well on the track for ISU? The football players who aren't particularly getting a lot of playing time in football, or those who are redshirting (but who are excellent track athletes) should be allowed to participate in indoor/outdoor track. It would only help to enhance their conditioning IMO

Other MVFC schools allow their football players to run track, why not ISU? help each other out.

I understand they are there on a football scholarship, but it does not take that much time for them to practice their event(s) and run a couple indoor/outdoor meets. It'd be nice to have the better ones at least be able to participate in the 2 MVC meets.

There are some VERY multi-talented kids on that football team who would love a shot at competing in track again as well, just ask them.

Good luck in the upcoming season!

2012 Prospects

Since you have had some success in recruiting the past several years, can you share with us some primary recruits that ISU is targeting?
