As usual, our two bigs to need to get in shape. Vorst is still overweight and soft looking like he was as a Freshman and Sophomore, and Harding doesn't look much better in the video. Yes, I'm FAT SHAMING them. It's ridiculous that there's never really any physical transformation with these guys. Look at Robbie, he's had a big soft gut for his first three years and I'm sure his 4th year as a Biliken won't be any different. I wonder at what level these guys could perform at, if they ever got serious about being DI athletes?
You have to wonder why the coaching staff isn’t monitoring their weight and off season conditioning. Fans should not have to point the obvious out.

I was messaging Julian larry's mother last night and she told me that Ju really like Byron Jones. it was the head coach that was the problem. Ju is getting ready to leave for Germany where he will be playing. Good luck Ju.

I agree with you but I also think there is a culture shift happening. "dad bods" are now supposedly attractive and are very acceptable in society. Nikola Jokic has won 3 MVPs and is about as unimpressive build you can have, Luka Doncic is chunky, hell even Joel Embiid isn't "cut" by any stretch of the imagination. Also if you've noticed, since NIL has become a factor it almost seems the less athletic you look the more marketable you become. Robbie Avila, that Burns guy from NC State, etc.

But yes, I'd really like my players to be in shape and physically strong and not built like a throw pillow

Save for Jokic, none of those other folks have ever won anything and I'd consider Jokic a unicorn versus most with his individual skills and intangibles.

Elite athletes take their conditioning as seriously as working on their on the court game. While I know you mentioned Avila/Burns, I'm actually shocked it hasn't been the opposite with guys working to optimize their upward potential. Or that may be coming and is just slowly matriculating.

Who is #23? Is that Ian Scott?

Whoever it is, he's all over the videos they've posted. Looks the part physically and has a pretty outside shot.

Martin's form looks picture perfect in that clip.

Looks like HCMG is reading the boards with that last talking point.

I would have preferred a more forceful discussion about out of shape players instead of “We’ll Get There”
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but that isn't Graves' style. I bet these guys who are out of shape are seeing it and feeling it by teammates who are beating them and they will work hard to get back into shape. Ideally, you'd like them to be in better shape coming in.....but you can't change that now. Now you motivate and push them to get there.

I know! He is what he is.

Liked hearing 'focus on defense' during practices & that practices are more effective from last year.

Apologies if I missed this info elsewhere, but I've been boondock camping for the last 10 days. Besides Bruno what are the other four players that are missing? Plus has the foreign player been identified?

Outside of the rumored foreign big, I don't believe we're missing anyone. It does appear they are still kicking tires.

I confidently assume coaches tell players what to improve upon, fitness & skill related, at season end interviews, but then it's on the players to execute during the off-season (at least in my mind this is how it works).

With increased roster turnover for most valley teams, hopefully Sycamores aren't currently at a (fitness) competitive disadvantage.

Not critical of any currently out of shape player, b/c at their age, I would've lacked the discipline to make many off-season improvements. However, April/May are great months for a player to really separate from the pack.

Somehow hope the program gains that expectation from players with improved buy-in. That level of off-season accountability would probably have to mostly be player inspired, & more difficult to achieve with the high transfer rate.
