How so?Just noticed the home game against Valpo next year as well. That's a good get for us.
Pioneer League school from our state and all-sports conference. Should be a win and count as a win if we're in playoff contention, unlike a D2 school which doesn't count in the committee's eyes. How so?
That makes since actually... So 2028 is the year to watch. No big buy game listed - I would be much more concerned about the future of the program in 2028 than I would future buy games listed in 2029 and 2030.
This has clearly become a basketball school with over $1.5 million in corporate sponsorships committed over the next 3 seasons. Will be an even bigger focus with the opt in on rev share. It's all in on hoops moving forward.
wishful thinking.
Come on bro… They just continently skipped a year sandwiched between multiple P5 games. That’s wild you can’t see what is happening. The timing really aligns with everything else going on in the landscape. The buy games in 29’ and 30’ are clearly to be able to maintain some semblance of a future - enrollment being the driver behind all decisions at this point so that checks the box.
I’d say best case scenario for you is we announce in the 12 months that we will be going non-scholarship in 2028. The 29 and 30’ schedule is a facade. It’s finally happening!
It wouldn’t surprise me if Memorial Stadium is dilapidated beyond repair at that point - no idea where the funds are going to come from to be able to continue to make that a safe facility. A lot of things really point toward 2028 being the turning point.
Only one thing can stop it… A major donor stepping in and saying enough is enough it’s not going anywhere. But they’ve been waiting on that for the last 15 years and it hasn’t happened. So the year 2029 we will either have no football program or non-scholarship football. You heard it here first. I’ve been right more than I’ve been wrong.
Comical! I guess Northern Iowa is getting ready to drop football or go non-scholarship too since their only FBS game this season is against Wyoming. Eastern Illinois has had multiple years like this too where they only play NIU or Miami OH. I guess they forgot to drop their program. Also you keep conveniently ignoring the fact that Middle TN was our only buy game in 2020. You do realize that this kind of scheduling is actually fairly common right?Come on bro… They just continently skipped a year sandwiched between multiple P5 games. This back and forth about dropping the program is exactly why more people don’t participate in the football forum. Right, or not right, the banter about dropping the program is tiresome. We get it, ISU, in your mind is a basketball school. It’s been discussed and debated into the ground. Just let those of us who value the program enjoy it.
Fully expect to get railed about this post, and it wouldn’t be a worthy post without out a douchey response from the forum jester. Fire away men!
Outside of this group and those that think it will help basketball, who from the administration is talking about dropping football? I know the question was asked, but that’s all that I’m aware of.UNI and EIU have never even discussed getting rid of football to my knowledge, that’s the difference. I’d also imagine UNI doesn’t need a buy game every year to make the math work - whereas Indiana State is definitely reliant upon the buy games. They didn’t just skip 2028 by happen chance - that’s absolutely wild you think they just skipped it.
They all but telegraphed the playbook… Gives them time to get all the NCAA non scholarship and conference affiliation paperwork figured out.
The bottom line is this - don’t look at other programs that are not on the chopping block buy game schedule and try and draw any inferences… That’s careless - InState Football is not everyone else.
It’s a good post. As long as the team plays, let the fans who enjoy the team cheer and support them. Those that only focus on basketball have their forum. Problem is they won’t.This back and forth about dropping the program is exactly why more people don’t participate in the football forum. Literally nobody outside of the same people that have been running this discussion into the ground for the past 20+ years. I guess if I see the president or AD at MS on Thursday I'll ask them if the Ball State game means we're dropping the program or going to the Pioneer League. Probably the dumbest take I've ever seen on this board and that's saying a lot.Outside of this group and those that think it will help basketball, who from the administration is talking about dropping football?
