Boy, if the football team ever lost 6 of their last 7, including a 53 point beat down by an unranked opponent, you'd never hear the end of it on here. Some people on this board say they won't support football because it's "D2". Meanwhile the basketball team just got their butts handed to them at home by an actual D2 team wearing Drake's colors, and "NW MO State" might very well win the conference this year.
16 teams so far have gotten beat by that D2 school this year. Including Vandy, who just beat UT (#6 in country) yesterday. Don’t be so short sided while trying to beat a dead horse.

No doubt. They would immediately get on the football page and start the cancel football and put what’s left over money into basketball and baseball.

I think Walker is promising and could develop with more playing time. Alderink has energy, hits the boards, should figure into the rotation in February. I worry a couple of the promising guys getting poached by bigger programs.

Nobody is poaching anyone unless they produce at this level.

NIL is here to stay until it injures the "P5's". But it is not the only factor when recruiting/selecting players each season. A good coaching staff can still identify and put together the coachable pieces he deems necessary to compete in his league and beyond. A prime example of how not to do it can be seen by looking south at Bloomington IN. With a nearly unlimited NIL fund if you can't identify the talent and then coach that talent available you are just spinning your wheels & will never reach the desired success.

Poaching any of our guys would be foolish. Kent was fantastic last year and can hardly get a bucket in the SEC.
JD is our best underclassman and his ceiling is limited due to handle, outside shooting, defensive position (can he guard a big 5 or quick 4 in a P5 conference). Some of these mid major players are exactly where they should be, but no, I can’t blame them if some jackass P5 school wants to pay a 20 yr old $100k+ for limited production.

I would say better example to use is Cade Tyson over Kent. But your point still stands.

He is another example, but not any better. Just looked at Kent’s stats.
He’s played 10 games…4 against low majors and averaged 9 ppg…6 games against P5 opponents and averaging 1.7 ppg. His cutting doesn’t fit Texas style of play. Both players got paid which is great, but neither are at schools with opportunities to have great individual seasons.

Hell, in fact, it may hurt future earnings. This is definitely up for debate…but does 4 ppg for Kent this year at Texas or 15 ppg and 7 rpg at ISU help him get a better start to a Euro contract?

Not having film at Texas will hurt him. He is going to need an agent to sell his State tape to Euros if he is looking to play pro.

I really think Kents lack of production at Texas is due to the “offense”(?) they run and not his abilities. Dribble, dribble, dribble and jack up a 3. Larry seems to be tge only guard that really wants to go to the rack.

It only hurts him for the really good Euro Leagues. His Indiana State film will get him a contract but probably in the lower Euro Leagues. Unless he gets one hell of an agent.

It was two days after our drubbing in Peoria and I had to wonder...

Will we bounce back or lay an egg? Played hard but laid an egg.
Will we lead late in the game and then lose? Negative.
Will Drake lead this game wire to wire? No.
Why won't our guys cut and slash more often, way more often? It confounds me.
Will we press them on defense after our made shots? Is that even a good idea? Only when we were desperate (from what I remember).
Can we somehow get Stirtz into foul trouble? Zero fouls.
Can we somehow get Abreu into foul trouble? No.
Can we somehow get Mascari into foul trouble? No.
Can we straight-up get Manyawu into foul trouble? Had four fouls.
Manyawu and Ferguson shoot worse than 50% at the FT line, should we Hack-a-Shaq them? Drake has too many weapons.
Can we score more than the 57.29 points that Drake allows? Negative.
Drake averages 31 rebounds a game, could we exploit this please? They outrebounded us 31-30.
Which of our guys is due for a career game? Not a one, nay, nay, nay. (Mel Brooks reference)
Am I the only one annoyed that Drake is having a successful season when it should be a rebuilding year? It’s annoying.

We have two guys with some potential at a power 4 conference, even if they are 9th/10th men. I just want to see them develop. Something needs to be done

The difference you football... I'll just say people is that MBB is a fraction of the cost of the football team, furthermore it IS The Sport any fan thinks of when they hear Indiana State and it's far away a more "consistent winner" than the football team has EVER been.

But you and '96 keep being you -- hell, at least you're good for a couple of laughs
