Undefeated on the road in conference play! Need to lock-in for Valpo on Wednesday. I’m making the trip over after work

JD won us this game. AG way to be senior and knock down FTs
Yeah, AG really big for us today. Scored some important points and more importantly provided leadership when we had zero of it from Teel. Hope ST gets it together because we have to have more from him. He's been great for us this year so I won't get down too hard on him, but today was brutal. Just need him to respond on Wednesday! Nice to get a win we didn't really deserve.

Man we were 1 less turnover away from being 4-0 in conference. Wouldn’t have had that on my bingo card.

I will say this and it may be unpopular. You can really see major freshman mistakes in Alocen’s defense in person. Many times he would get caught and not get thru a simple pick then go rushing at his man who had the ball who would blow right around him everytime then it would force somebody else to collapse to cover his mistake and either pick up the foul or their man would get the ball dumped to them for an easy bucket. I know freshman mistake and difference in style of play, but somebody has to work with him to fix that. Legree and Walker need more minutes if what I saw today was true to play. Overall if they can clean up the freshmen mistakes they are just as fun to watch as last years team just in a little different way, raw vs. refined talent .

When you look back an ugly win & even on the road is like a warm beer .... both taste pretty good at the moment.

JD aka Mr. Southpaw Smooth has become a marksman off the bench. The super sub is shooting 22-of-36 (61%) from the floor in the past three outings. Most of his game is creating in the mid post and rolling to the cup. This marked his fifth game this year scoring 19+ points. #Dude Happy for him to be back in TH along with Aaron Gray, who sunk the FTs to ice the game. Hats off to Matthew Graves, who has the Sycamores off to a great Valley start. Subscribe to the former beat writer's podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@widenationofsportspodcast. The plan is to bring Graves back on the show and JD.

Coaches must see something you don't. Played 30 minutes which puts him second behind Teel. Was +10 on plus/minus.
Evansville scored 1.3 pts/minute during his 30 on the floor and 1.9 when he was off the floor.

I mean… Besides the fact that they get the benefit of having coached him all summer and get to see him and everyone else on the roster in practice every single day? I would hope they see a lot of things that I don’t see, to be clear. Also, you and I have had this +/- discussion in the past but it’s been awhile. It’s fine to use it to evaluate a player but a lot more goes into than just what those #’s look like. Was he on the floor when LeGree was on the floor? Because LeGree got roasted - if he wasn’t then obviously he’s going to have a more positively weighted pts/minutes stat.

I know what they see and quite frankly, I’m not sure who is going to play ahead of him. Sort of like during the game today when Teel was struggling - you don’t have a lot of other options you just ride with the horses you got.

Bruno is a young player and he’s going to have his moments. The last couple games he’s kicked it around pretty good. His defense has been suspect at best. I have been happy with his 3 point shooting as he’s been fairly consistent. He will improve but in the heat of the game I was pretty disappointed with his play.

Was out with friends today when the game finished and initially thought the final score was 82-66 Evansville. I was pretty bummed and thinking how did we lose to Evansville by that much? Ugh. It felt extra good when I looked again and saw I mistook the six for an eight and we won. Sometimes aging and your eyesight getting worse has its pleasant surprises. :ROFLMAO:

We are young physically and mentally.

We were coming off a very emotional loss.

Eville has been playing better as of late.

Road valley game.

We played like crap and didn't get much from our seniors. - Gray came up huge 3 times

We own Evansville

That looked like a Lansing game, crazy that we sat thru 11 years of that stuff

Happy for AG, JD, & to be 3-1, tied for 2nd.

Was fun to attend this game in 2nd half. ISU fans got loud. UE turned up the music and started their own chants, but couldn't drown us out.

Atmosphere very quiet during 1st half. Around 2K UE fans, imo, unnaturally quiet for a D1 basketball game.

Hat tip to some of the student managers who cheered loudly in the 2nd half, it made a difference. Still a sloppy 2nd half, but the effort/energy looked/felt better.

UE shot 7 more times than ISU in 1st half, & 7 fewer times than us in 2nd half.
