Actually Voss made some key plays in both halves. That basket off the cut was huge.I would like to say Voss impacted the game at least in the first half. Even though he has been missing missing shots and hasn’t played great D although when has he ever played great D but he was rebounding (even had a tip in) and not holding the ball. He absolutely can be better but that’s one thing I noticed. Last game he wasn’t providing anything. He was a little better today. Feel like a big Voss game might be due soon.
I'm not going to point to JS. I don't think the effort was there. We were playing "touchy feely" defense. Not aggressive and not physical. We looked like we were playing to outscore them. (And, we do have some soft spots on the team on D)l.
They can’t guard everyone. But fundamentally a lot has to change for JS on that side of the ball. I’ve correctly pointed out his struggles and lack of attention to D. It was a problem all game long. Luckily Cooper, Cam and Bledson in that order bailed us out.

And I was in that "weird" back and forth before the season. And I'll stand by it. Last year was his 5th year in the program and it looked like he had given us all he had. He did NOT play with the demeanor that he played with last night. There were times this year when he was faking the shot and WOULD NOT shoot. If last night was the Neese we had seen for the last 6 years, then I would agree that I was not sane.
Question, did the coaching change give Neese a new life?
Note, though, that he shot less than 40% last year; and this year he reduced his TO's from 67 to 30.We are also probably selling Belmont a little short - they are an elite offensive team. They are very very similar to us in the way they play the game.
No not really. Neese was always a good player for Indiana State - he’s never not been good. Shertz offense in general is a better fit for someone like Neese who is a high clip high volume shooter. Playing in a system where you’ve always got the green light is pretty nice. But no - Neese was good under the previous regime as well.
We survived, barely. I may need a wellness check tomorrow though. It was under three hours until our tip-off vs Belmont, and I had to wonder...
