[March 3, 2023] Indiana State (21-11) vs Belmont (21-10)

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

Having a larger crowd than Belmont might be a huge difference in this one for us. It took an energized, senior day atmosphere; that most of the Belmont faithful said was the loudest they've heard in there to beat us. Players feed off of the pep rally, band, fans at the hotel and especially in the stands. Could be the difference maker we need in this one.

On the court however have Henry will be HUGE. Not only for his obvious impact on all facets of the game but just having ANOTHER defender than can match up physically with Sheppard or guard Friberg (when Ju is on Sheppard) and not give up the 3 point line will go a long way. LET'S GO SYCAMORES! I might call in sick to watch this one today

I think the key this game will be which Julian Larry shows up. His play on both sides of the ball should be the deciding factor as we match up almost equal to Belmont player to player. The Tyson/ Avila fight, down goes Tyson!! Shepard/ Larry tossup and deciding factor of the game. Fryberg/ Henry goes to Henry I pray, Voss/ Gillespie I hate to say it but i give it a split decision to Gillespie. Finally Neese vs the other dude with the Sideshow Bob hair I'm giving to Neese. Come on Boys! Win game 2 of our 10 game win streak!

Shot. Making.

At Belmont, 1st half splits were 62.5%/35.7%/75% on 20/32 overall shooting and 2nd half were 41.6%/36%/71% on 10/24 shooting. Their 1st half were 44.4%/26.6%/33.3% on 16-36 shooting and 2nd half were 55.9%/47.1%/75% on 19-34 shooting including 8-17 from 3.

Overall they were 12-32 from 3. I know HCJS said letting Davidson shoot and having Voss come under the screens was the plan but I hope they have changed the game plan.

I'm hoping the addition of Henry this time around gives us one more perimeter defender with length that can fight over the top of screens. I would also love to see Belmont get called for a moving screen. I typically don't notice illegal screens during play but there were a handful that were egregious, and right in front of the ref. If I'm Schertz I'm letting the refs know BEFORE the game to look out for that

Oh, and limit their active bigs from giving them second/third opportunities. Every time a shot goes up, someone needs to put their ass into Brauns. Drive him to the sideline Big Mike in Blind Side style if you have to.

Agreed on Davidson. He’s still a near 35% three point shooter. Comparatively he’s their worst three point shooter that takes them with any volume, but he’s still not someone we should sag off of.

They did kill is on the offensive boards in Nashville, 10-4. They are the 5th best offensive rebounding team in the league, and they shoot it well enough that giving them extra chances will be killer.

Jason, does the same link you sent yesterday to watch the game work for this game? I am stuck at work again and that was the only way i could watch it yesterday.

Getting ready to head to the Lou…I’m expecting to be able to point out BrokerZ and Karl if they’re having as much fun as last night!

Shouldn't be hard.

Have to take the wife to a doctor's appointment today so I'll need one of you fine souls to provide score/time updates.

Naaa… The crowd isn’t going to be what determines this. I’d argue we were better on the road than we were at home this year. I don’t think us having more fans is a factor at all to be honest.

It's under three hours until our tip-off vs Belmont, and I have to wonder...

Will this rematch be as close as the first encounter?
Or will one team dominate the other to the bitter end?
Is this a game of "first team to 90, wins"?
Who scores more points in round two, Voss or Sheppard?
With Cam playing, how will that change the Belmont defensive dynamic?
Which team will have the better three-point percentage?
How many assists will our Sycamores dish?
Which freshman will outshine the other, Avila or Tyson?
Or will they shine equally?
Which fan-base will sound louder on tv?
Which fan-base will sound louder in person? (will need help with this answer)
Could this be the beginning of a beautiful rivalry?
Will BrokerZ and Karl survive the day?
