At this point in the season, I find “he was sitting because defense” to be a red herring. Nobody on our team could play defense. We needed to outscore them, and our main outside threat sitting on the bench was a stupid, self inflicted mistake.

I just love sitting here at Enterprise Center with no dog in this hunt. 😒

Listened to the post game. The play was supposed to go to Teel but SIU took Teel away
As a coach you have to image that SIU is going to try and take Teel away in that situation. Ideally you put a 2nd ball handler in there (LeGree) to get the ball up the court, but not sure i'm counting on LeGree to make the right decision there.

I would have went for a catch just in front of half court and tell the ref before it’s an immediate timeout. Now you have 3.8 second from half court. That gives you an inbounds past near middle court with time for two or three dribbles and a pretty normal 3 pt attempt.

It was less than 24 hours until tip off at Arch Madness and I had to wonder...

Who will be tomorrow's hero? Ali Dibba.
Or will it be a team-hero situation? No.
Who will shoot more threes, JD, Vorst, or Harding? Daughtry was 1-3. No attempts by V and H.
Will we have two 20-point scorers? Just Gray with 27.
Will we have four+ guys in double-digits? SIX...and we still lost.
What will Bruno's stat line look like? 10 points, 2-3 from Three, 4-5 FT, No Turnovers.
Will Karl get any screen time? Probably not. Woulda been fun to see though!
When was the last time we won back-to-back games vs an MVC foe? Covid Season, Evansville.
Can you name the three guys on our team who have played in every game? Oops, there were four: Teel, JD, Doughty, Bruno.
Did you know we exceeded 4,000 in attendance for every home game this year? Yes.
Could we be the first team in Arch Madness history to win four games in four days? Negative.

Legree should definitely be getting NIL money next year, just not in basketball…SSOM- since season is over you gotta jump on the Legree bus! A 6’ 10” high jumper as a raw uncoached high school kid, Angie could get a few point out of him in the outdoor season!

WTF. Wasn't able to watch the game due to work. Apparently our guys wanted to go on spring break instead of play basketball? Sad.

I think we were. But, what do I know.
I agree. In this game you could point to strong drives, FT's, OR's etc. I thought SIU outplayed us, talent wise. They had 2 good SR's and a SO that put it on us. A couple of FT's or one of Daughtry's shots at the end would have won.
And we needed better defense. I think SIU gave us their best shot. Hard to play a team back-to-back that you have blown out.

Karl did get screen time but now that he’s a little more drunk he wishes they could have shown his absolute disappointment in a game we could have won.

I thought Cook was the high jumper?

STFU, he jumped 6’10 in HS? Come on.

I looked 5’10. That makes sense… I was going to say, if he’s jumping 6’10 in high school he’s probably jumping in college and not playing basketball. 5’10 ain’t good enough to even get consideration here.

It was Cook. He jumped 6'9".
Is that good enough for ISU? Warsaw had a SO jump over 7' last year.

Watching Opening Night in Xenia, OH, I expected the worst ISU team of all-time. The team improved throughout the year and ended up quite a bit better. Honestly, 14-18 was probably close to the ceiling for this roster, and the coaching staff got them there. Now the next big step for the coaching staff is recruiting.

Agree.

I left that night wondering if we would be competitive at all in the Valley.

The fact that we only had a couple of bad losses and played a lot of competitive games speaks to the work of the players and the staff.

If we can keep a solid core together for next year and hit on a few transfers I think we could be a top four team in the league by the end of next season

Some of that depends on everyone else’s transfers as well.

Being 0-3 in OT's is not good, BUT 2 of them on the road and against Bradley and Drake says it all.

With all the roster limitations and inexperience this team had they still played hard and competed nearly every night in conference. If we can hold onto this core and find some key pieces in the portal, I feel good about our chances next season. Bradley should take a step back and Drake may be a completely different team if their coach leaves. I doubt they strike gold again like they did this season if they have to make another HC hire.
