The JSW Level
Looking at a singular behavior such as just wearing masks is beetle headed. Preventing a virus requires a defense in depth approach. All homes have front door locks, so why do people get security systems, move to gated communities, get guard dogs, buy home defense weapons, etc. Because each time you add a layer to your defensive approach, it increases the probability that your overall approach will be successful.
Masks are only effective if the individuals wearing them are wearing them correctly as well as maintain proper social distance, implement a rigorous hand washing protocol, limit touching their faces, limit touching foreign surfaces, refrain from extraneous public appearances where large crowds gather, minimize intimate social gatherings in their homes, etc.
If Americans weren't so damn selfish, self absorbed, and really cared about "thy neighbor" like they love to claim, we could remain open like Asian countries have done and not seen the drastic spikes.
yes, Ive heard that a lot of times. I wear masks when appropriate. I do think there would be just a little bit of data that shows some sort of mask wearing is having a quantifiable affect on the spread. Im not sure which asian countries you are referring to.
