The All-MVC Level
Media Day for the MVFC is Monday, the preseason all conf. teams will be released, as well as the predictions for team placing.

So to generate some discussion over the weekend, where do you think ISU will be predicted to finish by the coaches, media in the preseason poll?

AND, where do you REALLY think ISU will place this year in the MVFC?

I think they're going to be predicted to finish 4th or 5th in the preseason poll, but I REALLY think they're either going to finish 1st or 2nd in the MVFC and make the I-AA playoffs. I think everyone is going to overlook ISU and they're going to open some eyes this Fall and beat teams that no one would give them a snowballs chance in he!! of beating. They've worked too hard to not do well this Fall

So what do you all think?

I bet we're picked anywhere from 5th to 7th. I think we'll finish 2nd or 3rd. To win the whole shebang, we're gonna have to beat UNI at UNI, and while I think it's doable, I'm not gonna bank on it. We get NDSU and SIU at home, so that helps!!!

And I think we'll make the playoffs.

I predict that we will be picked 3rd or 4th and will finish 3rd. I think Northern Iowa will be picked 1st, and North Dakota State will be picked 2nd, and if we are picked 4th, then it will probably be Southern Ill. picked in the 3rd position. That's my two cents!

Well, if you looked at Phil Steele's Top 40, he has us behind Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois and North Dakota State. So that would put 4th in the Valley.

I'm saying the prediction is 5th in the conference, and the actual finish is 2nd. These seniors have yet to beat UNI, SIU, or NDSU, and I'm hoping (and predicting) they beat 2 of the 3.

I agree, I think ISU will beat SIU and N. Dak. St. this year, UNI will be tough in Frosty Falls. The seniors aren't going to want to go four years w/o having beaten any of these three teams.

We won't be picked last and that alone will be enough to piss some people off, which is great by me!

Some of them may be foolish enough to visit here and voice their opinions. I look forward to serving them a nice meal of crow when the Sycamores prove them wrong.

Till the leather hits the grass it's all lip service. It is nice but tbh it isn't going to change my mind on anything.

just moving this up, it'll be interesting to see if the media/coaches think ISU is a contender or pretender tomorrow morning.

I havent shook my head at a pre-season prediction in football ever but I am now, this is a pretty terrible prediction if they really think SDSU, who just lost basically their entire offense in their RB and Illinois State, who couldnt tackle or defend Stephen Hawking on the perimeter are going to be placed that much higher than us.

Just for the record, there was no formal media day today. There hasn't been since 2009. The MVFC eliminated it.

They did have a teleconference today, but that's it. I'm on vacation, but the Tribune-Star will have coverage.

I've tweeted my opinion (shameless self-promotion, part XI ... my feed is @TribStarTodd) on ISU's placement in the preseason poll. It's too low.

Back to vacation.

No one is expecting it!

The reality is (with the exception of ISU community) no one thinks that ISU will be a contender for the MVC or a chance to play in the playoffs.

I think that is enough motivation to go out and show everyone what Sycamore football is all about and what the conference and FCS has to look forward to in years to come!!!!
