True but you have kids declining scholies to other schools to walk-on at PSU (and a lot of other schools)

That didn't cost us this win; but it is another factor between FCS schools and the perennial FBS powers
Definitely.

Definitely.

As FBS conferences continue to jockey for schools, talent, $$$; it should make fans wonder when the NCAA will break out the BCS conferences into a separate classification; ultimately resulting in 4 classes, not 3...

Did you fix it? Every time someone says something like this, I usually try to educate them. The football IQ of our fan base is really, really poor to be quite honest.

I'd venture to say the football IQ of most fan bases is pretty low - much goes for basketball, too. For most fans, if it's not a BCS school or conference, they know next to nothing, and they often THINK they know more than they do.

As far as our fan base is concerned, perception is reality and it's going to take a very long time to shake our reputation. How often to you hear "For ISU, that's not too bad" or "That's pretty good for Terre Haute"?

There's a major inferiority complex among ISU fans/students and residents of Terre Haute. (Generally speaking)

Glad you posted that because this is something I heard this weekend from one of our alumni that went to the Penn State game and wore a freaking Penn State tee shirt to the game. He's from Fort Wayne, has no ties to Penn State and he posted something similar to the "Not too bad for ISU" after the game.

Shit like this infuriates me.

I really get tired of hearing about the "inferiority complex" we supposedly have. I think Just About every fanbase is the same... (not attacking the subject just Annoys me)

Boda, I am pretty sure I know who are referring to. That kind of bothered me as well. Trust me, I would ALWAYS be proudly wearing the royal blue, period.

Being an alum and wearing the other team's colors at a game?? WOW, not good. A buddy of mine told me a funny story years ago--he played baseball at Florida State after going to Pensacola JC. The first day on campus (just walking around, not at practice or in the locker room) one of the coaches stopped him and told him to take off the orange socks (no, I don't know why he had orange socks to begin with). The coach proceeded to burn the socks in front of him in the middle of the campus, then told him no one in Tallahassee wears orange anything, and there is a reason there were no alligators anywhere near Tallahassee.

Good for Trent!

Our Director of Admissions keeps extra ISU T-Shirts ready during orientations... if someone is wearing a shirt from another college, he calls them out and throws them a shirt and expects them to put it on.... parents are NOT excluded! ;-)

That was literally the birth of my true school pride.

Here's my question. Is the 41-7 loss to Penn St better, worse, or roughly equal to the 40-7 loss last year at Cinci. I remember listening to that game thinking, man I'm glad it wasn't worse and now I'm thinking I thought it might have been closer.

After attending the game, I just had a chance to watch the replay and I'm very encouraged! Defense was VERY physical and kids stayed on the field after big hits (a sign of maturity and toughness). Punt game and long snaps were very good and our kick return game was improved. We had young and first time starters at nose and offensive left tackle and these kids have great potential and will learn from this experience. Bell was in the dog house and I honestly believe Coach didn't want to subject Harris to a lot of big hits yet coming off his knee surgery. Stay focused and healthy and this will be a 7-8 win season. What we can't do is think Butler will be a cake walk after playing Penn State...I'm very encouraged!!! GO SYC's:sycamores:

Thought it was interesting/amusing that after Riston took that big shot on a punt return, he not only bounced back up but made the catch on the very first offensive play that series. The BTN play-by-play guy got all excited about the hit and went on and on about it. Didn't even notice that the same guy who got hit made the next catch.

Funny you say that...I noticed the same thing, tough kid!

Very impressed with him
