[November 12, 2022] Indiana State (1-0) vs Ball State (1-0)

Athletic bands should fall under the direct control of the Athletics Department. I’ve heard in the past that many music faculty members purposely try to steer students away from being in these groups. Which is ridiculous considering how many music students will go on to be high school band directors.

The game day experience is something schools spend quite a bit of money and resources on. If you have an alumni that keeps asking why the school's song isn't played, maybe it is something to evaluate. We're certainly not Notre Dame, but you can't go to a singular sporting event where that's not played. It's such low hanging fruit that you wonder why something so simple is skipped, especially when it is your older alumni that make up the lion share of your donors and ticket purchases.

For the record, I was speaking specifically of the cheerleaders/dancers. The participation for this squad is higher than I can remember. I completely agree the game day experience can be improved and the band should keep playing the school song. Just for the cheerleaders, I am not really sure what people want. Of course, I enjoyed them running around the concourse with the flags back in the day.

Gotcha. Yeah, I liked that as well. Was also friends with a ton of the Sparkettes back in the day so was always fond of them.
