I don't think we should be throwing Gant under the bus so quickly. We know Gant is a strong player, especially this season when he will finally be able to play PF like he's meant to. Did he have a bad night? Absolutely, no argument here. But he had a lot of great looking shots that just didn't go in. He's getting open and putting the ball up.

I know that good shots that don't go in still score you 0 points, but he was putting the effort in offensively.

Now we just have to figure out where our lock-down defense from previous years has gone.

I like Belmont's play. Reminds me of old Butler teams. They were screening at the top of the key and getting layups from them. The refs called some illegal screens, but you know they're not going to call all of them.

Damn, there goes our undefeated season...:whiteflag:

Just keep in mind, it's only November 14, as long as they learn from this and don't let it happen again, no biggie. Certainly not going to be looked at as a bad loss. (By anyone but us) Learn from it guys, and don't ever let it happen again...

Agree --tough road loss---but its just one game! Just think we get to battle with them in TH fairly soon. Wonder how that game will be approached after tonights high score!
On to ND now---will need to put our big boy pants on and battle on Sunday. Hopefully we will have the entire team available!

I've watched thousands of games and rarely does a coach lose a game.

Yeah, but when he pledges to focus on defense and get a better performance from the team after the Ball State game, 96 points and 63 in the second half is a little bit on him, too.

Khristian Smith Notches New Career Best As Late Comeback Attempt Falls Short

The Indiana State Sycamores got a career-high 28 points from sophomore Khristian Smith but could not sustain a red-hot shooting performance after the break in falling 96-95 to Belmont in front of 2,113 fans inside the Curb Event Center.

I don't want to give up on anybody and I'm certainly not a cry baby like some on here blaming the coach. That's illiterate. We have some posters that have a bias against Coach so they need to keep that to themselves.
We are overrated because of how we played in Hawaii last year. But Lansing deserves some credit for our Hawaii showing also.

True it is only nov. 14. That is the good news.. Problem is that this team has had a chance to learn from it. All last season we struggled to finish road games. I would love for us to learn from it this season but not going to hold my breath.

No. It isn't.

So you're saying that our players have no idea how to get around a pick, or get in passing lanes or stop entry passes? I think that's called execution.

I will say one thing. I think when they were having a run there in the 2nd half, we should have thrown a zone at them, or a full court zone.

I'm tired of hearing about all the experience this squad has. It doesn't mean SHIT!
We need ATHLETES with TALENT. Not the Division II bullshit players we continue to recruit.
If you think we can rebound and win at Notre Dame you're drinking way too much cool aid..........it's not going to happen!
This team played very poorly at the end of last season and we didn't do anything to improve, mentally or physically. Where the hell is the conditioning?
Our so-called bigs get shoved around and don't have enough strength to block out anyone. Teams continue to have their way with us and drive right down the lane. We need to knock someone on the ass.
Like Leo Durocher used to say: "Nice guys finish last."

You're right. It's not his fault we didn't have a center to match them tonight. But if he's going to play PF, he needs to rebound and score inside. I'm just anxious to see him really turn it on and play like I know he can. He is a JR now.

Yes, it's execution, it's also pulling players who aren't executing off the court and coaching them up on the sidelines. It making in game adjustments. You don't give up 63 in a half based on poor execution alone.

It bugs me that schools like Belmont can get better centers than we can. Could Samuels or Kitch helped tonight? I don't know. They always say rebounding is about effort, and i think Gant and Arop are good enough athletes to get more than 2-3 rebounds.

Man, I basically disagree with you at every point. Our team is nothing like last years team. Last years team could not score like we do now. They could not put up offensively what we do now. I can see improvements on offense in at least half our team. Defensively we're rusty. And the rules changed and there was like 65 free throws between the two teams. We're better than we played tonight AND if we suck as bad as you say we do, then what do you call that first half? What do you call 50% shooting? Yeah defense needs work, okay we agree on one thing. But offensively this year over last we are way way way better

I can't tell if you are being serious. I think there are likely 300 D1 teams that would take Odum of your hands. Arop and Gant were both highly recruited. Mcintosh was a tree until the devil whispered sweet nothings in his ear. Seems like you have an ax to grind, just think you are swinging at air.

Perhaps you are correct. Do u also think there are 300 Div1 programs that would take Lansing off our hands!?

Why do you and others think that our coaches suck? What is your career record? Lansing doesn't execute the players do. Where is our senior leadership?

There are always those at the barber shop on Monday morning blaming the coach. Did you see Hoosiers. I guess some just can't believe that it's the poor little boys' fault for playing lazy. I have no idea where that comes from. I guess that's the simple solution for lazy-minded fan.
