Cousy Watch...

Odum is averaging 20 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds a game.

Where is the stat for how many points he has given up? Certainly not the only one but his defense has been poor.. Might have ended up with good number tonight but I thought he looked sub par. I get this is probably a joke but some people will look at those numbers and be impressed. He has not been as good as he should be yet.

Did anyone see the timeout @ 3:50 & down 83-76...Lansing & Staff stood dumbfounded out on the court trying to think of something to combat the 19/27 FG %!

Now hold on here. Although we had some players really step up offensively like Jo and k smith. But Gant 1 of 6 really hurt us. He's a main player and without him being on it's never good..

no... suggesting we should built an arena that we can fill on a consistent basis and create a better atmosphere for our team. Since when does south hold 8000??

Your comment has two possible meanings.
1) Suggesting we should have built an arena that we can fill....................

Possibility #1 is not possible since Hulman Center was built several years ago.
Possibility #2 would be a complete waste of money unless you are planning to donate the money.

I know people around here like to bash our facilities but Hulman Center is a great facility to watch a basketball game. I'm sure most division 1 schools would love to have it as their home arena.

1. Gant not a factor
2. Arop not a factor
3. Brown shot bad shots
4. Kitchell not there
5. Moore not a factor
6. Cant believe there was no foul at the end. (not the reason we lost tho)
7. Odum was not great until that last stretch.
8. BAD DEFENSE too many defensive breakdowns

1-6 is not a good thing but his scoring is not what hurt us. It was the fact that he and all other post players (mainly him due to his experience) got thrown around like rag dolls. We were so weak inside and on the boards in that second half..

Gant looks WEAKER this year than last. No musculature on his upper body & arms - was pushed around tonight by the smaller Bruins (excl. "Porkchop"). Not gonna get any easier for him as the season progresses. Truly disappointing.

For some reason, our guys are afraid to take a CHARGE this yr...multiple times we saw DIAGONAL penetration w/ nobody stepping in to STOP the dribble. Looked like they had a Pre-pass to the hoop!

One Defensive lapse after another. I believe ego of this team after first half got in their way and they thought they would coast. Sorry, Belmont not that good but worked hard in second half. First 10 minutes of second half should be a tape of how not to play defense. Guys not playing help defense and one on one basketball and couldn't make Belmont shoot from outside. Can't turn it on and off. With this experience on this team playing for all 40 minutes should provide many victories. Best offensive team I have seen in several years but second half defense among worst. This was a sad game because Belmont outworked us and shouldn't have been in game. I have seen enough back cuts and uncontested drives in the lane for the entire year in the second half. Why does MSU, Kentucky Lou., Wisconsin etc. always seem to play with sense of urgency. Talent alone won't make it work. Add a little hard work. Beat ND and I'll feel much better.

When is the last time any of you have witnessed such a dual high scoring game and a game with a 63 pt half!? So much for that theory of letting the horses out of the corral and letting em run!

It's OK if they're YOUR horses!:freaked:

no no no your taking my words out of context. Your first response was to just move it to south HS if you want to cut seats. I said IF we ever build a new arena it should be cut down in capacity to create a better atmosphere. In the next 15 years I would rather just see them update the HC and keep it bc like you say it is a great place to watch a game but the reason that place tonight seems like a nice atmosphere is because they only 5000 and not 11000 like the HC. Honestly though im so mad at our team that they can do whatever they want with the HC.

He had 5 TO's and he doesn't impress me defensively. I know he tries hard, though. Why can't Gant get the ball up over the rim?

don't underestimate Belmont. They had a very effective inside game, they can shoot the 3, and they have decent-sized perimeter players that can HANDLE the ball, penetrate, create and pass.

look at stats, when Gant was in the game we were MINUS 20 points, MINUS 20, this was a night he was better off not playing so much, in the first half when we had our huge lead Gant was on the bench, then he played more in the 2nd half and we totally collapsed, Lansing should have stuck with that first half lineup that was blowing Belmont right out of their own gym

Gant and Arop were just not good enough tonight and that's the bottom line. Now we need to put two good halves together and steal a win Sunday or this week will be a waste. Keep shooting it Dawon and Ksmith!

Damn, there goes our undefeated season...:whiteflag:

Just keep in mind, it's only November 14, as long as they learn from this and don't let it happen again, no biggie. Certainly not going to be looked at as a bad loss. (By anyone but us) Learn from it guys, and don't ever let it happen again...

I think it's turning out that Gant is a tweener. He doesn't utilize his jump inside. I don't know why he couldn't front them inside and prevent the entry pass. And he doesn't go up strong and finish.
Arop and Gant each had 2 rebounds. At this point, they are both overrated and need to put it together.

Are a lot of these points due to the rule changes and players not knowing how to play D with their feet?
