after watching an exciting regular season come to an agonizing close yesterday I saw some things on twitter about the 23-24 schedule.

We host Southern Indiana and Tennessee State and play at Ball State (assuming that series continues).

I'm sure we'll host a non D1 opponent

Hopefully we'll play in a holiday tournament (3 games). Maybe we can play a BCS school in a buy game? Purdue seems to not mind scheduling us. IU definitely won't schedule us.

anyone see any other info? Really looking forward to next year already despite the fact we'll play in a post season tournament this year.

Hopefully the marketing team at ISU will be smart enough to build on the momentum created by this years' team to sell more season tickets for the 23-24 season.

The start of NEXT YEAR, is less than NINE MONTHS away.

Not necessarily. If the team continues to trend upward, the excitement and demand for tickets will increase.
So what if we move some season ticket holders. They’ll still be provided with a good seat since there really isn’t a bad seat in Hulman Center. Don’t you think season ticket holders wouldn’t mind a more enthusiastic game experience.

Would be cool, but they give up an awful lot of revenue (tickets and required donations) to move the empty student section.
How many seats are we talking about 10, 50 or 100? And secondly, like what, or how much revenue are we talking about...$10,000, $100,000 or $1,000,000?

If those ISU fans are so dedicated, why wouldn't they want to do that miniscule sacrifice, for the betterment of what, FIFETEEN home games for just FIFTY measly seats?

50 riotous acting students in PREMIUM seats....yeah, let's do that...at any cost.

If we do this, I would hope we would put the students right behind our bench in one section. Not sure how many season ticket holders would be moved, considering that particular section is never full. Maybe there are a lot of corporation no shows there so it would not make much difference. Plus, I spoke to Logan recently about the wasted space behind the South basket in the lower level that was once used as a private party area. That should be open with an accessible bar and built for some kind of over 21 or Varsity Club Area for alumni to meet up, network, mix and congregate during the game.

And while we are at it, since we expect much larger crowds next season, how about portable beer stands in the concourse? THBC could be served on draft plus it would keep the concession lines moving with only soda, popcorn, candy etc!

Students didn't come to games this year... It wasn't because of the seating arrangements. If students want to be engaged and that is what it's going to take - then sure I'm all about it. However, I don't think the seating arrangements are the problem. Oh and it wasn't winning either - because this group won a lot. Granted they gave tickets away and sold them as cheap as they possibly could - but overall I thought attendance was pretty solid this year. We've got more fundamental problems with student turnout than where they sit.

They absolutely have to fix the concession line issues. Those lines were ridiculous and I felt terrible for anyone who had to wait in them. Sure, the varsity club lines were manageable...but when you are trying to expand your fanbase and get first time comers to stay?? Having them miss ten minutes of a game to get a damn pop is going to turn them away

If we schedule a BCS team, I say fuck in-state teams.

Go after a league that has a similar offensive philosophy so we can do two things:

1) Have a higher likelihood of success since they will also be playing open concept;
2) Go to a state/region we want to recruit from more.

We should get a buy game from Florida. Great exposure and we could probably beat them...and I could go to the game.

Hmmm, I'm noticing a bit of a trend in my posts about tournaments and scheduling... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

i am sure we will sign (or attempt to sign) a top 40-60 team to come play in HC this next year. Would love Michigan State/ISU rematch. Should’ve happened 33 year anniversary, you know when we had JO and a chance

And we lost a ton of money. Drinks should be in bottles cafeteria style. Takes way too long.

Well get your boy on it. Have him plant the seeds from within.

Offer those season ticket holders some kind of compensation for giving up their seats for another location.
For example, maybe paying for a season ticket with a considerable reduction in the mandatory donation?
There are many other options I’m sure.
The biggest obstacle for this to happen is the lack of marketing creativity and perseverance we have at ISU.

I see this topic get brought up on occasion but I really don't understand the desire to move the student section at all with how the Hulman Center is configured.

1. It's currently right next to the band, you aren't moving the band.
2. If you move the student section, what are you going to do with the space it once filled?
3. Let's say you move the student section to a sideline, where do you propose? behind team bench, behind opposing team bench, opposite side of court? I'm curious
4. Right now it's pretty easy to block off the current section as the students section and if there is any overflow of students they just go above the upper deck naturally. If you put the students on the sideline how much do you section off? and what if it's a gamer where there is a great student turn out and it flows over to season ticket holders?
5. Student section are typically bleacher seats or seats with a lot of available space to stand up, jump, move, etc. Do you think the current HC seats are conducive to that?

Yeah yeah I know people are going to come on and say "we don't get many students anyways", "they don't jump or move around", "they don't stand up and obstruct the view for people behind them", etc. But what happens when 2011 Missouri State happens, 2014 WSU, 79' reunion game happens, etc? The current student section just seems so natural to me, I truly don't understand the want to move and I'm honestly looking for an honest argument why and how you would address some of the above issues?

I think the ONLY argument is that the space is limited and it perhaps discourages by way of the amount of seats students to come in the first place. If you move it to a side - then it’s got the ability to hold more students, therefore creating a better environment. I think that a lot of people in the 2000’s got really inspired by what Duke was able to accomplish with it’s students. It doesn’t need to be said - but I will say it anyway we are not Duke and we will never replicate that. We are not even close. We not only had a winning product but we had a winning product that played an entertaining brand of basketball - they didn’t show up like I thought the would. I don’t have a good explanation.
