I don't think today is anything to worry about. They took Butler for granted and almost lost cause of that. It's plain and simple, they overlooked Butler, and it almost bit them in the ass today. And I guarantee it, as long as Trent is our head coach that will never happen again.

Other than turnovers our O looked tight. Didn't punt once. D was SOFT!!! Some of it was Butler being pretty good on O. Some was really lazy play. Some was not using all our blitz/D packages to keep some surprises for WKU...Sigh ...at least our D is full of returning starters and mature players. If anyone can respond it will be that group....I'd be really worried if we had young players in a lot of spots..but we don't. They'll tighten up.

Sycamore back ups in. Watkins ahead of Glass?.

Glass has some elbow/shoulder injury. It's a recurring injury since HS; I guess he had to sit out a season in HS and it's back now. Don't think he's out for good, but we're not using him unless it's absolutely necessary.

Thanks for the update/explanation.

I sat in the stands today. First, let me say what an awesome atmosphere it was - lots of fans, including students, out tailgating before the game. Really felt like a "real" college football atmosphere. It's so hard to believe where we've come from three or four years ago. Totally different world.

Anyway, I don't think there's as much to be down about as some have feared. The offense had their way with Butler. The defense did, too, when their heads were in the game. Do I think that we may have been looking ahead? Yeah, especially the defense. But after I saw the adjustments we made at half, I'm sure we're gonna be dialed in next week. I've never doubted Coach Miles' ability to get his team focused. This is a big game for us. We'll be fine...

Pretty much my sentiments as well, ITF. Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. It really did have a big-time feeling today. My biggest pat on the back goes to the students because they showed up big time today. That had been missing a bit last year except homecoming and they were loud and proud today. I am sure the bus shuttle from campus made a big difference. Angie Lansing said they started shuttling them again last season but they seemed to really take advantage of it today. The band was great as always and it was a nice touch for ISU to invite the Butler band to also play at halftime and later BOTH bands played a 9-11 tribute. The fraternities particularly were whooping it up and it reminded me of my days at football games. The Varsity Club had a tent in the end zone with a great food layout and a cash bar and that adds a whole different atmosphere than the VC room in the basement under the stands.

Tailgaitn' Tom's food was outstanding as always and I got to put a few more faces with SP monikers and that is always fun.

I realize that most of you wouldn't be on here as much if you didn't love your alma mater but for those fringe people out there, it is time to REDISCOVER Indiana State. There are so many good things happening that I simply can't wait until next year and the year after that. Homecoming may well be the biggest ever.

Talked to coach Lansing for the better part of the first half and he is truly pumped to get the season rolling. I mentioned that he set the bar rather high last season but he seemed very ready for the challenge. I also brought up the 5pm starts for those two games and i'd say he wasn't too pleased about them but they are both due to some schedule conflicts with the women and/or Hulman Center for one reason or another.

Again, nice to meet some more of your guys today. And if anyone noticed, my Accu-weather forecast submitted yesterday on here was DEAD-ON! I think I felt only a few stray rain drops the entire afternoon. A beautiful day to put a whooping on the Bulldogs. They are a pretty good ball club folks. Yes, we likely took them a little lightly but once Trent got them focused, we played them tough.

Can't wait till the next game.

I'm happy to hear about the atmosphere. That has been missing for years. Maybe the invitation to the Butler band will influence Barry Collier to think about ISU in other sports as well (I MEAN BASKETBALL). The tribute was fitting. When I first read about the game here I was concerned about our D. But didn't the O have 2 TO's turned into scores? If so, I don't totally fault the D. Like someone else said, at this point in the season, we are not going to show nearly everything we have in the playbook. Butler has a decent O. Maybe things are much better than I feared. Enjoy this one for a few hours and get ready for next week. Go Trees!

My favorite atmosphere addition was Chief Quabachi. Body suit man was a close second.....The Chief came out of retirement and was in a loin cloth, full headdress, and was brandishing a spear..... Nice!

I don't think that the "new" chief is anything official. In fact, I am pretty sure he was not. Nobody knew who or what he was but the university likely knew nothing about it. The original chief was rather authentic. This guy looked like he borrowed the stuff from a costume store. If anyone knows the story about it, please pass it on.

The chief that showed up wasn't me. I was at home in SW FL listening to the internet broadcast. Maybe it was my alter ego.

GO SYCAMORES!!

Great to hear about the atmosphere, but the university better keep a close eye on the chief thing. It better not get the program in trouble.

I'm just a student who's been going to football/basketball/other sporting events since fall of '08, normally in body paint. I got the initial idea from my roommate and just ran with it. It's gotten a lot of positive feedback, so I'm gonna keep it coming back.

If you've been doing it that long I guess it won't be a problem. Like the pride and initiative.

Good night, folks. You could tell it was a student just dressing up. Ya'll take things too seriously sometimes!

Yeah, I made a mistake on that. I thought they had something black on their seats that they were going to put on later. That said, it still applies.

Oh, those! Those were parkas - they were in the stands in case it started raining so the band could put them on and keep the actual uniforms from getting damaged.

Love the spirit, thanks for coming and supporting the team! Be creative and do what you can do to encourage others to come. Mybe lead some cheers the student section can get involved with? "1,2,3 First Down" is always popular. See you at home against Younstown and thanks again!
