Starting at the 4:10 mark, that should be music to Jason’s ears.

You know me too well. If we were going to move on from Lansing, it had to be a polar opposite. I also think, even at our level, kids want to play in a system that is akin to what they played in AAU and what they watch and aspire to be. If the staff can get this place rolling, recruiting should advance to a level we've not quite seen.

who knows, maybe with this coaching staff, and all the new energy, we might see the good old days from the late 70's. Players really seem to be buying into the new culture.

I am more than a little bit tired of the trashing of Wake Forest. It is a rebuilding program with a new coach who has been ultra successful at ETSU as a head coach and as an assistant at such places as Wichita State. Jake will get a chance to play in the packed house ACC environment with and against quality players. I wish he had stayed; however, I do not fault his choice of a great academic institution in a premier league with a chance to put a winning stamp on the program.

How would the ISU recruiting class/roster stand up against the players entering Wake this year or returning with freshman/sophomore eligibility?
Do I think the gap is huge? Not really. The beauty of NCAA D1 MBB is the wealth of talent available. Fortunately, teams play not in a computer simulation but on the actual floor.

Cameron Hildreth: Freshman
Prior to Wake Forest:
Top-ranked player in the UK by DENG Camps…Four-star player ranked No. 1 in England and No. 89 overall by 247Sports…Member of the U16 and U18 British National Teams in 2018 and 2019…

Tariq Ingraham: Redshirt Soph - lost two seasons to injury but a three star recruit out of HS.

Carter Whitt - Freshman eligibility again:
High School
Top-ranked point guard in the state of North Carolina in 2020, according to 247Sports...Ranked the No. 10 point guard nationally
...Ranked the No. 64 player nationally...Ranked No. 86 in ESPN's Top 100 recruits...Ranked No. 63 in Rivals Top150 nationally.

Damari Monsanto: Redshirt Transfer from ETSU following his head coach:
2020-21 Season (Redshirt Freshman): played in all 25 games with 20 starts for the Buccaneers, averaging 11.8 points and 7.3 rebounds in 27.4 minutes…named the SoCon Freshman of the Year…earned Third-Team All-Conference honors…

Lucas Taylor - Freshman High School: three-star prospect according to 247Sports, the seventh-best prospect in North Carolina and the 38th ranked shooting guard in the country…averaged 27.9 points

Robert McCray - Freshman High School: Top-125 recruit by Rivals…Ranked the No. 11 combo guard nationally by 247Sports…Honor Roll student…

I could go on, but you get the idea. The recent past may not be indicative of the impending future for The Demon Deacons

Man do I like the approach of this staff

It's really hard not to. Will be interesting to see how players develop in this system. We've kind of had the newcomer burst onto the scene and then stagnate or slowly progress over the course of their career. Interested to see if that no longer occurs.

Same thing with stalling at the end of the year that had been a relatively common occurrence.

Wake Forest is a garbage program. If they were in the MVC last season they would have finished 11th. There's a reason we are all making fun of them.

That’s the best response you could come up with two days later?

It was partly sarcastic, but since your humor always seems to be lacking…LaRavia said he wants to win then chooses Wake Forest. Great choice!

have zero stake in where LaRavia chooses to finish his college career; he made his choice for his reasons

would much prefer he would have stayed but no one should be shocked he left

laravia 'traded up' by all accounts, mid-major to 'power 5'... ~3d tier nation school to top 30 national school

I don't like seeing them travel before they shoot. They are not in the NBA.

I watched closely and I saw two plays that might be in question - they could get called because they’re not a natural movement necessarily but I’m not sure either was an actual travel. But you see a travel so I’m not trying to convince you that they didn’t travel - I know I will not change your mind.

The college game has evolved backer. The player/athletic ability has changed. You’ve got to adapt with it some… I know people really hard a hard time adapting to the euro step - but it’s become a pretty natural basketball move that players and officials are use to seeing at this point. I know it’s still a little flashy for some and they don’t want to accept it - but you the product is always evolving… Is what it is.

If they use that move this year, they WILL get called for travel. If you were teaching a player to pitch, would you allow him to practice illegal pitches?

You ALWAYS disagree or argue with what I say. You must think I'm an idiot.

Since March?
Ha. I suppose.

You can disagree with someone quite regularly without ever saying or thinking they are an idiot. I don’t think you’re an idiot - I can recall Cooper using that move last year and I believe he might have been called for travel. Just because it’s called a travel doesn’t always make it a travel. It’s a judgement call and in real time what looks like a travel isn’t always a travel. That’s the only point I’m trying to make.
