over the past 44 years (a "convenient time span"...) MBB is 573-729 (.440) overall, 304-466 (.395) MVC with 15 winning seasons, 8 post-seasons a MVC title, 2 MVC_T titles.

over the same 44 year period, the football team is 177-291-1 (.374) overall; 91-192-1 (.323) Gateway/MVFC with 11 winning seasons, 3 post-seasons, zero MVC titles.

Move that needle forward, say the last 25 years and MBB is 376-402 (.483), 202-250 (.447) MVC with 11 winning seasons, 8 post-seasons a MVC title, 2 MVC_T titles.

the football team is 82-193 (.298) overall, 48-133 (.265) with 5 winning seasons, 1 post-season and zero MVC titles.
573-729. I guess we need to drop basketball. This makes as much sense as all of you calling to drop football.

I get it -- you prefer your revenue, 'billboard' athletic program for ISU to be the 177-291-1 (.374) football "program."

Such an overwhelming winning percentage between MBB .440 and football .374. LOL!

And one period of time is (a "convenient time span"...) of 44 years versus the last 25 years that you selected isn't Cherry Picking?

How about these numbers in MBB, since the HIGH-WATER MARK of the 1979 NCAA title game.

Since 1979, we've had eleven seasons with single digit wins. ELEVEN!
  • Two seasons with just four wins. WTF!
  • One season with just six wins. Oh my?
  • Four seasons with just nine wins. So close!
  • Three seasons with seven wins. Over a decade of single digit wins in the last 44 years
  • One season with eight wins. OMG!
  • Here's another one. During that "convenient time" frame since the HIGH-WATER MARK, we've only averaged THIRTEEN wins per season while averaging almost SEVENTEEN LOSSES PER YEAR. That's 17, as in almost 20 losses per year for 44 years! But football is bad, really bad.

You cherry-picked eras

again, the OVERALL numbers for MBB are a POSITIVE (1,566-1,345), with only one 0-win season (1900-01)

overall the football program is a NEGATIVE (405-560-23), with five 0-win seasons (2023, 2017, 2008, 2007 and 2005).

and as you're CONSUMED with 'single-digit win' seasons... EVERY season in 114-years of Sycamore football has been SINGLE-DIGIT.

Every Single Fucking Season -- 114 times

Football only plays a third of the games as basketball. Basketball is also a more flukey sport where any team, regardless of how bad they are, can win any night, and it also contains a wider range of opponents. For example the lowest level school on the football schedule is scholarship FCS, while for basketball the lowest level school is non-NCAA St Mary of the Woods. I also randomly searched for the "1950 Notre Dame FB Schedule" and they only played 9 games, so it would have been impossible for ISU to win 10 games if our schedule was the same.

I wasn't the poster CONSUMED with "single-digit" win seasons - do your homework.

As it being "impossible" for ISU to win 10 games - wtf?

ISU has played 10 games every season since 1967, that's 56 years; nearly half the "lifetime of the program."

Furthermore, because of the NCAA FCS playoff system, ISU has had the opportunity to play additional post-season games since 1978, that's 45 years.

Basketball is flukey? Explain that theory, plenty of bad football teams beat better teams SMH...

Range of opponents?! What the hell are you trying to say?

ISU football has played at the NCAA Div I-A level (now known as FBS), Div I-AA (FCS), Div II and as a NAIA member - what the hell does the "level of play" have to do with winning 10 or more games? Annually, there are dozens of teams in Div II, Div III and NAIA that win 10+ games and I'd love to hear your argument that scholarships factor into 10+ win seasons.

56 attempts is a lot smaller than 114. Having a 10 win season in football is like having a 30 win season in basketball. How many 30 win seasons have we had in basketball? I'm guessing only one in who knows how many attempts. At the bare minimum it appears we've had at least 43 attempts at getting 30 win seasons in basketball, but I'm guessing the number is at least in the 50's. Not sure how many games we played at the D2 and NAIA levels.

13 FCS teams won 10 or more games
17 NCAA Div II teams won 10 or more games
19 NCAA Div III teams won 10 or more games
9 NAIA teams won 10 or more games
