So with the news that Target appears to be on its way to the east side, it begs the question: will Target open before Drake's and/or Valvoline? Does @meistro do you or anyone else have info on what's causing delays with those two?

I have heard, no insider information or connections, that Valvoline uses an underground area to change oil and it floods. I heard that from a competitor. I also heard that Drake’s is waiting to maybe move into the mall. no idea if that’s true or not.

Man...I feel the mall would be a death sentence. Luca's still selling Panzarottis from 1996. If they don't like that old TR location then they should go eastside

I saw where a Mongolian bar is coming to the old Friday's location in the mall. I really like those Mongolian style places, can't remember the name of the one that's coming, but it is similar to a Hu Hot, or BD Mongolian Grill.

Edit* This one is called Yummy Bowl. Feel like the name could have been better, but they have a lot of them already open across the state, so apparently they do well.

Yes, the Valvoline station has structural/drainage issues that have to be fixed for them to open. I've been told they would have to tear down to fix the issues and they are hung up in litigation for who is going to pay for it.

Jimmy John’s out east is almost done. As is Mikes Express Car Wash.

Still think another downtown TH hotel is moving forward - not sure when they will break ground but I’m guessing sometime in 2026.

Gotta think the Drake’s thing isn’t happening at this point.

Rieth-Riley is building a new asphalt plant right next to its largest competitor Milestone (Wabash Valley Asphalt) out on the east side.

Looks like things are continuing to move forward as originally planned at Entek. 400-600 jobs.

Wabash Valley Resources received over $100 million in state energy funds to move the carbon emissions plant forward that is expected to bring 150 jobs.

Know they inquired about a Home Depot for the Gibson owned property next to Wallmart east but they were not interested.

I also heard that something big maybe happening at the mall. Not sure what but supposedly good news and that is why Drakes is maybe going there

I hope so. I have so many good memories of the mall when I was young. It’s sad to see what’s come of it. And to pretty much all malls around the country.

Yep, I would literally take two busses from 20th and Hulman to go hang out at the mall when I was a youngster. Grab some waffle fries at Orange Julius, tool around at the arcade, window shop at Sports Fanatics on which team basketball shorts I wanted to buy next, hop across the road to PharMor for dirt cheap candy... those were the days.

Was out wasting some time before meeting up with some friends at the Bally last night. I saw that the Quik Trip is almost done by 641/70. I didn't even know that they had started on it yet, but I also haven't been out that way in several months either.

Also went and checked out the new Indy 500 themed rest area on I-70 as you enter Indiana. Pretty neat place for a rest stop.

Was at Drakes in Evansville a couple days ago and asked the manager about the TH locations future? She advised me that it's still on but the company has decided to build 2 others before they start on the TH location. She told me she is going to be the manager of it when it opens as her family is from the Linton area. She said there is rumblings that the location could change from 41 to "near the casino". Whatever happened to the plans for a Waffle House and Firehouse Subs pre COVID?
