Not only do the students need to be called out but the entire city needs to be called out, this issue is not selective to the helpless student body - trust me!

So call out the students if you want but it's not going to make a difference and at this point who really cares? I mean we have 1 freakin home game left, so they show up for 1 game who gives a darn, it won't matter next season if none of them come back.

It's also time to call out the administration. They do not do enough to put asses in the seats. If I have some free time this weekend, I'm gonna outline some ideas I've posted before into one mega post on what I think should be done.

guys....it's been an ongoing problem for several years.....

it was a problem when I worked there....nobody seems to be able to come up with an answer....and, yes, I know that it's more than the student body that needs to be called out....heck, everybody talks about the "great" crowds we had when Larry Bird played there.....most of those people came from out of town....Indy, Chicago, St. Louis.....we had great student support back then.....when they were allowed to get wild and crazy.....I was one of them....lol......but a lot of Terre Haute people....never really got on the bandwagon...until late in the process....like late in Larry's senior year.....they just couldn't believe that a player that good...or a team that good...could actually come from little ole Terre Haute...and not Bloomington or West Lafayette.....lol.....we were getting more national attention from fans...than we were from the locals.......

Boda,

Looking forward to it!

1. K-Mac and the Team are doing their part; winning, 16-11, could be a better record but it's where we're at (for now). Love to see them win out for the season!

2. Admin -- Get on top of the anti-fan behavior from the ushers

2a. I understand both sides of the seating issue but until we're at SRO crowds, should they be seat nazis? Push all of the season ticket holders into sections 104-105, 116-117. Will that max out those sections?? IF not, any other ticket holder should be allowed to sit in the lower bowl, regardless of where their ticket is located. They could make the entire place (except for the season ticket sections -- OPEN SEATING?!

3. Students -- Not sure, winning solves Many, Many problems; the explosion of other entertainment options really bites into a program like State (as do acts by unfriendly HC Staffers)

4. Folks from the Haute/Wabash Valley -- Win, Win, Win;

Having grown up in Terre Haute, having seen the best with the Bird years, and having seen the worst with Ron Greene and Tates Locke, I know that the community at large is very skittish when it comes to supporting ISU athletics. And taking off my Sycamore Blue glasses, I can understand that. The community at large actually takes money out of their pockets to buy tickets, and after so much losing for so long, they just don't believe that we can be good. I really think that can change if we can win consistently over a period of 10 or so years.

The students are a different matter. No school pride at all. I always felt that I was robbed of a "collegiate experience" because all of our major sports teams (OK, basketball and football) sucked when I was there. We went to the damn games, though. Had a ton of fun yelling horrible things at the refs. My point is, these kids have a basketball team that is actually pretty good, and they still don't show up. I still think we can thank cell phones, texting, facebook, myspace, et al, for the lack of socialization in the younger crowd. They just don't care about the camaraderie, I guess. That's what I loved the most!!!

I have before....68 angry emails...2 or 3 ones like 'HELL TO THE YA....."

I agree, Indy...the "techno-life" of today has them believing that TEXTING is as efficient tool of communication as in-person dialogue! I love it when you watch fans pull out their cell phone cams while standing LIVE behind the ESPN Gameday folks, as if they're trying to validate their human condition!

The students find camaraderie elsewhere and many look down on activities such as supporting athletic teams. I agree though ITF, the difference between students and the residents is that students get in free. And really, what else do the freshmen and sophomores living on campus have to do besides study and watch TV? Go to the games. Get them invovled early and they'll keep coming as juniors and seniors. As for TH residents, if they're not an ISU grad they're not coming unless the team is really good. The ISU grads come to a fair amount of games, but they work for a living and many aren't going to make it to every game on a week night. Of course that's coming from my perspective as someone who lives four hours away, but still has family in TH.
