simply stop the running game, their passing game will be very weak this year. Plain and simple. I think ISU wins this game going away.
One key for ISU is the fact that ISU has a weekend off prior to this game, so any injured players will have an extra week to heal up.
the bye-zun, on the other hand, will have come off of a 2 week stretch of playing at S. Dak. St. and at home to UNI, who they have never beaten since joining the MVFC.
Again, "IF" ISU is healthy and playing well I think they win by 14+ points.

I definitely don't see them winning "going away". They have not beaten them, so until they do, NDSU will be the favorite, even with the game at home. NDSU is trying to figure out their QB situation, which is helpful, but they also have an All America RB in McNorton, who is excellent and who ran freely against us last year. Ben has to quit focusing just on chasing the QB in this game, and be disciplined in his gaps against the run. The LBs need to be more aggressive in filling the gaps close to the LOS. We cannot give up 150 to McNorton and win this game.

TJ, don't get carried away. You've generally been very complimentary on here, and that's appreciated. Read my post directly above yours. You have to expect that some of our fans will be a little "zealous" because of the year we had last year and the returners we have back. I think it will be a very competitive game. And remember what we have to read when we go to the Bison forum--a hell of a lot worse that what you are taking exception to here.

Im not taking exception to anything, you have all the right to say whatever, I am just asking if he is really serious?
I guss he may not know much about our team, as we were 2 seconds from hosting the Semi Finals in the dome and beating the eventual National Champ on the road with 14 Freshman one being the QB who never played the full year due to injury. I think most can say without the "help" of the refs NDSU had 2 TDs on EWU. If Brock can open the passing in his second year that team will be dangerous. We have D backs that made Montana St and EWU look slow and again were Freshman so the 14 point win and blowout predictions are a little over the top. And to say we have never beat UNI since joing the Valley has anything to do with our game is odd as ISU has never beaten NDSU.
I do agree if you can stop DJ it will help, but I guarantee it will take 8-9 in the box to do it and that will leave even a crappy passing game wide open. we are 3 deep at RB also and deep enough to rotate our O-linemen and stay fresh for 4 full quarters which is what won us 2 playoff games last year and kept us in the EWU game. We physically beat down MSU and they were the #4 seed.
for the record I know it wont be an easy game and hope all the players get thru it without injury, and if it is a blowout on your guys side ill be back here to congratulate

It will be a tall test for our defense for sure, but I think our offense is going to scare even the best defensive teams in the Valley this year, NDSU included. People seem to be forgetting that we're returning almost everyone, too.

On O, you would need to do lots of short passes so the D can't get pressure on the QB. Don't even try running the ball.
On D, you would need to stop the run and not just DJ, there is lots of depth at RB. While stopping the run, you can't let the safeties get in the box because our deep pass is great.

Not to be a total grump on a Saturday mornin, oaky to be a total grump... Why do you guys feel the need to reward people for being "classy"? Isn't that the way these guest to our forum should act anyway? People come over here and post and all I hear is "total class", just freakin post your point and get on with it. We can see when someone get's out of line and usually with a collective effort we put them back in place... By the way this isn't directed at any one person on this forum, just a general observation - this isn't the only thread i've seen this.
That said, I'm a one game at a time kinda guy. So your most "key" game is your next game. So I'd rather not speculate on what it would take to beat a team that I admittedly know nothing about.

Too soon to know...I just know...all the games in the mvc are going to be tough..very tough....our offense needs to bounce back...I'm not ready to say anything good about them....if they are going to be highpowered in the mvc...they should have at least sustained a couple of drives against penn state...I'll know more after the western kentucky game....

If you have a QB that rushes the ball sometimes with passing plays break down, that will help too.
I think WKU told us we shouldn't even try to run the ball either, 200 yards later, I think we will be ok.

We have 5 games, and an off week, between now and then. Who knows who will be out, who will be healthy, and how many wins and losses both teams will have by then. It's way too soon to be having this discussion.
