What will it take to beat - Northern Iowa?

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

I was signed up at Panthernation - the only opposing team's forum I visit - but forgot my password, I guess. I tried to reset it and it asks me for the name of UNI's basketball coach. I entered Ben Jacobson, Jacobson and Ben and it tells me I'm wrong. Did I miss something? Is he no longer their coach?

I've had problmes with PantherNation, too, logging back on.

Panther-State is just a loudmouth, but almost everyone else over there is cool, just like you guys. Ignore him and enjoy the rest.

Gonna be out of touch for a while and will not make the game this weekend. Starting a new job in Grand Forks, ND, tomorrow!

All the best to State!!!!

Tom, Isn't it about time for you to start heading back to Cedar Falls? Don't want to be late (i.e., not be the first one in the lot) Saturday. Hope you and Deb are having a good time!

Word up Sycamore fans, I will say I am glad to have someone else in this league competing, and I am pumped it is Indiana State. I agree with alot of people here that stopping bell will be good. Though i haven't heard much do you guys have much of a passing game to fall back on or are you pretty one-dimensional right now? Looking forward to seeing some sycamores in CF, if you are out tailgating come to the south gravel lot and look for the Panther flag on top of a Jeff Gordon flag and come say hi.

Ronnie Fouch is our qb still so yeah, We can toss the rock

A full 60 minutes of football. Mistake free to boot.

While I love our squad, I still think we're a little ways off from Northern Iowa. That said, Any Given Saturday mentality has to be in effect. Play hard for 60 minutes, execute and don't turn the ball over and we can make a game of it.

Absolutely a statement game. We have to realize that a loss isn't the end of the world and may only mean we are the second best team in the conference but if we get off to a fast start, a la YSU, I truly think we have a shot at this. No turnovers for us and some for UNI could be the difference on Saturday. If we get a lead, my guess is that we work harder than we have-- to KEEP it. GO TREES.

Thats what I was thinking, defense is a difference maker in my book: we force early three and outs and we may be clean in the shade.

Thanks for the props Pantherclaw, it's been some time since we have been considered as "competition". The fact is that our running game has been producing so we haven't really had to tap the passing game....but it is there. On more of a pregame subject, at what time do they start letting vehicles into the south lot. Will look for your flags and stop by. See ya there.

I know I will probably be there around 10ish or so(got a band competition that morning) but I am sure there will be people out there 7ish or 8.

here is a map http://www.vpaf.uni.edu/pubsaf/parking_division/documents/ParkingRegsMap11.pdf

Dome is on the east side of campus

They don't charge for parking but the student tailgating area is on the northside of the dome(large yellow section north of the dome), and most of the "adults" tailgate in the gravel lot across the street to the south of the Mcleod(yellow area south of the Dome/Mcleod) and then there is a grassy area south of that. If you get there late you may have to park on the soccer fields to the west of the dome/PSC parking(blue area next to dome).

Hopes this helps and looking forward to seeing more than just the parents from ISUb in the Dome. Btw TT I will be the one in a UNI shirt and hat, the younger one. GO CATS

Thanks for the info pantherclaw. I'm pretty sure the south lot is where we parked the RV last time these two met. That will be my destination of choice. Not to sure about the 7-8 o'clock time of arrival though. I'll be looking for you....the hat and shirt will surely make you easy to spot!!!!! Good luck to you at the competition....that is if you are competing. Hope to see you at the game. If you're in the south lot, I'll be the only RV flying the Sycamore colors. Now THAT should be easy to spot. Thanks again.

Thanks for the good luck, I'm not competing assisting a good friend from college, just gotta scratch the marching band itch every fall. Will look for you we hopefully will be at the very west edge of the south lot along the grass.

That will be a big key. It will be homecoming and the Dome will be rocking (only 2nd home game for UNI). If the Sycs can take the crowd down a notch or so early and stay in it, they can make a game of it. If UNI can get things rolling it is possible, possible, that UNI could roll with it. I don't see Indiana State rolling UNI, but I do expect a close battle. This isn't the Indiana State team of even two years ago. I see this more on par with the classic SIU-UNI match-ups of the last decade.

We need a solid four-quarters from our defense. We saw it against WKU, but it's been missing in other games. Can't allow a bunch of third down conversions and need to hold them to FGs insteads of TDs when we can.

Also agree with others who say we need to get our passing game going. Also wouldn't mind seeing more runs from buisers like Lough and Harris to mix with Bell and Cheeseborough.

I think the playbook has been purposely vanilla for a couple of weeks. They'll come out trying to stop Bell, and hopefully Ronnie will be able to open up that playbook and go over the top. UNI is going to get both barrels blazing on Saturday. The only question is, will it matter? UNI is very, very good, and deserve that #2 ranking. Do we deserve to be up there? We'll see. I'd say we have a good shot Saturday.

As Brian Kelly at ND said, "You pass to score, you run to win." If we can bring that statement to fruition, we're going to have a very good Saturday!

Defense must play a whole game. No taking plays (or quarters) off. If you can't get up for this one, why are you playing football?

Coaching will be key, as well. Miles has proven to be a master motivator. Farley is one of the best in FCS. This will be a tremendous game!

I have nothing but respect for UNI. They've been so good for so long that it's really impossible to NOT have ultimate respect for them. But they are beatable...
