A coach we have not mentioned, can we afford Luke Murray from UCONN?? Pretty good up and coming coach with a famous father to hang around.

He was mentioned back on March 31st. Both UConn assistants were. I noticed our UConn member went radio silent when I asked about his guys. LOL

I really believe Angie is doing the work to make sure we get the best coach we can. I will have confidence in whoever she chooses.

Keep the faith!!!

The longer this presses on, the less likely it is to be an incumbent.
At this point it doesn't matter anyway. All the players have hit the portal so there's NOTHING to salvage. We're going to have to start fresh with a new roster so might as well have a new coach as well.

This is the landscape of basketball today in 2024, thank u Josh Schertz for abandoning the program. U have to reload all over, and unless u get a dynamic coach, with some kind of personality, cause basketball is entertainment, more than ever, because of social media, can raise their profile. That's why I suggested Huggins.

I read an article about 2 weeks ago in SI said he was still interested to go back into coaching, on a Pittsburgh radio station. He also mentioned he would luv to coach West Virginia again but if not so I might have to RELOCATE, which I am willing to do!!! but it would have to be the right fit. This is all recent, so he's out there!!. Even at 70 years this guy could still coach and recruit, its in his blood Yes I would like to have a coach in this 40's or so, but Huggy would keep the program alive and make it an attraction, a place to go. I don't want to here attendance going down to 3,000 per game and quite. , I brought it up earlier, after Larry Bird the program went DOWN DOWN DOWN, If u read the history of ISU basketball Landini the president said, we did not have a vision whatever that meant, for 3 years we were on the basketball map, after that it was, lose, lose, lose. I hope they don't make the same mistake again. Look what happened in the second half of our season, Hulman sellouts, crowds bringing energy,
Doesn't the university realize how much revenue and a go to place, when u have an enertaining basketball team and wins as well how much of a money maker it is.

This is why I mentioned Huggins, just needs a chance and he's available. Graves yes would bring continuity, but his record of coaching down in Alabama has something to be desired. What went wrong down there ? He was there 5 years and never had a winning record, Yes it great he is a Hoosier, a Butler man, but we have to maintain the level of excitement bring the fans back to the Hulman Center

Please ISU don't make the same mistake like they did at the end of the BIRD era!!!
I agree 100%. What Graves brought to the table was the possibility of keeping some of the starters. he wasn't able to do that so I would love for us to go after Huggins.

i mean is Huggins even a real possibility or is it just conjured up idea from desperate sycamore fans that we are trying to breathe to life?

Alright let’s go back to square one
I was ridiculed for stating that hcjs was going to leave
No way he would leave isu
He did
As of today basically all players have hit the portal
Square one
We need a new coach
Let’s make some phone calls that may go nowadays but
1. Dane Fife
2 Dan Morrison former lbsu coach
3. Bryon Scott former nba player and coach who has publicly stated that he wants to coach again and would consider any ncaa offer
Any of the three in name recognition alone would be a plus to isu
Very few ez NBA players have become highly successful college coaches. Whole different game and whole different types of players.

So, anyone else have any other replacement coach suggestions? Sounds like HCJS signed his deal with SLU today. I've now heard this from 4 different people.

Hopefully those that did the fundraising for HCJS will reach back out those that made financial commitments and let them know that the ball is in their court if they don't want Indiana State to have a fall from grace. I have to reiterate that it is BEYOND IMPRESSIVE that donors rallied to keep him and it was HCJS that CHOSE to leave for Saint Louis. I never through I'd see donors come up with $850k annually for an Indiana State coach.

Being able to offer the next guy a package among the top of the Valley will assure they have quality applicants for the job.
First time post so I’m sure it will be taken with skepticism. Boosters were offered the opportunity to pull their offer of support if Schertz did not stay so expect a fair number to do so.

As for another name, had he not just taken a job at UIndy, Scott Heady would’ve been a good candidate.

Nope, that has been reported by several other members here so no skepticism needed.

Welcome aboard!

IMO I am supporting Matt Graves for the following reasons:
1) He knows the state of Indiana and the MVC. He knows what is needed to recruit Indiana and what it will
take to win in the Valley.
2) He has coached at Butler, Xavier, South Alabama (unsuccessfully, I know).
3) If successful, and I think he will be, he is an Indiana guy and is unlikely to jump ship as soon as previous coaches.
Dillard, McKenna and JS....not all based on success at ISU.
Please note, many have made the reasons why not known. please refrain from lambasting me....it is just my opinion, not the gospel.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. He might help get Joey Hart....for those interested in getting him. In addition...have Vorst, Daughtry and Shetlar hit the portal????
If so, maybe he could get them to remain here????????

Based on some recent interviews/news about Huggins...I'm genuinely not sure he's 100% there.

Let's see if Hurley is up for the challenge then. I mean, It was a legit question, higgins has been brought up so much i was just seeing if there any smoke there or if it was just talk
I had a post on Twitter about Huggins that went...well not viral but viral for Sycamore basketball at least lol. It was purely a shitpost and in no way did I actually want Huggins...but a lot of people in the replies wanted it. It's gotta be all talk though...for like 500 reasons Huggins makes no sense.
