List those 500 reasons
Offensive comments on the record about two different groups of people, 2 DUI arrests, currently 70 years old, he's probably been making far more than we can offer since the early 90's, let go from Cincy for horrendous graduation statistics, put out a statement resigning from West Virginia, two weeks later tried to claim he didn't resign from West Virginia...

Look Huggins is a legend. But he's got way too much baggage and mileage on the odometer to make any sense right now. And he would have to be accepting a MASSIVE pay cut to come to ISU, which I don't see him being super jazzed about.

Bottom line will get fans back into the Hulman Center. Do u want to see 3,000 or do u want to see 8,000+ This guy once again is a proven winner, he's in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He has been to24 total NCAA tournaments, How many has ISU been to ? about 4 0r 5! During his career has averaged 23 wins a year. He has been to 9 sweet sixteens, four times reached the final 8 teams. U want more, at Cinn 399-127/759%, at West Virginia 345-203/630% LIFETIME 935-414. Like I said in the past he wants to get back into coaching. He applied for the Louisville job most recently

No one in this world is perfect, we all have our ups and downs, thru life. Yes, he is 70 years old, but he has the attitude and enthusasim of a 40 year old, he luvs COACHING. As mentioned before, yes he got stopped a couple of times drinking, and also made some bad comments on Cunnighams radio show in Cincy.
But damit, we all sometimes deserve a second chance!!

I saw he was making 4 million a year at West Virginia, and what can we offer, about a quarter of that ? But I am sure he would like the Challenge that Indiana State has to offer ? Basically we have to start from the ground up, everybody 8 player are in the portal.

The man is a proven winner! U Never ever know!1712726146579.png

I really think hiring Graves was dependent on him keeping some of the starters. With that ship sailing, I think this hire is going outside.

Like someone else said, I have all the faith in Angie Lansing. Remember, a great hire here bolsters her legacy too.

I believe fans will know who the coach is by this weekend. The current admin understands that timing is everything right now with the coaching carousel flying and the portal is hot. While the cupboard may seem bare, a lot of schools are dealing with the loss of players. Maybe not to the extent of isu but dealing none the less. That is the way of college hoops now. A coach by this weekend allows for them to immediately get into the portal and start rebuilding the roster. The key is for those boosters willing to keep Coach Schertz to now follow through and create the collective they said they would and is required now.

Ya all gotta move on from Huggins - it ain’t happening. It was fun to discuss - got some colorful commentary. The end. Plus none of you all actually did anything to make it a possibility. I texted Angie Lansing yesterday and told her I have Huggins number if she wants to make a call and gauge his interest. She didn’t text me back.

So I think we can move on from that idea…

Correct - sounds like a decision is coming as early as Thursday or Friday. Don’t expect this to drag into next week.

Donor meeting is Thursday so should know who’s staying committed, who’s reallocating to NIL and who’s walking away.

Outside of Graves, who else has interviewed?

I can't say for certain - I believe that Richardson has interviewed. And I'm sure at least over zoom they've conducted a couple interviews... I know they got interest - from whom has been the mystery.

You know... It's nice to not have all this information leaking out of respect for these coaches, players they coach and the fan bases. The SLU fans were about as miserable and arrogant as any I have ever seen given the circumstances and what was about to transpire.

I don't have any names, but whoever the next coach is needs to be someone that is an excellent recruiter and talent evaluator. We're going to have to find diamonds in the rough that will come here for next to nothing. Ultimately most of these guys will end up transferring to a school with billionaire donors, which sucks, but all that means is that we'll have to go out and find more talent to reload for the next season.

The biggest adjustment we'll all have to make is not getting attached to these players. Anyone that is any good will only be here for one or two seasons tops. The good old days of college athletics are over. The MVC has become nothing more than a developmental league for the big / rich programs out there.

Don't even worry about recruiting going forward at the HS level. No point in developing anyone until there's a system in place for mid-majors to be compensated by these players destination schools. Find guys that have sat on the bench for 2-3 years and actually want to play.

And recruiting be damned, make sure we don't pay any NIL, or at least as little as possible, the first year. You gotta be here at least 2-3 before you start getting anything substantial

That is where the multi-year NIL deals with buyouts come into play. Outside of that being implemented, yeah, it's going to be a rough go for them.

Not sure how much truth to this list, but I have saw Terry Johnson's name come up more than once. I believe he was also contacted during our last coaching search.

That list is infinitely better than what I'm hearing. I hope it's just because Angie is playing it close to the vest.

Miller is off the board. He took a new role yesterday. Believe he is going to be the AHC at Oklahoma State.

Marty Simmons has been mentioned by someone recently. PLEASE tell me that's a fucking joke!!!!! I definitely will be done with ISU basketball if that happens.
