This is a really solid idea...I think Fouch will be but to be honest on value I think someone needs to step up on the O-line to fill in for Josh Jellison.

Greenwell you are the moderator it'd be good if you could come up with some ideas like this on your own ;)

With that being said I voted for Bell. It's college football and to be effective on offense I think it's important to have a good ground attack. I think the Sycamores will look to establish him early and often in games and try and open things up via the run.

The easy pick here is Fouch and he should probably take the cake. However I think Bell will have a big season for the Sycamores. Would especially like to see him be the primary back out of the wildcat, rather than secondary option that rarely gets the rock...

Yeah I hadn't thought of the poll and had planned on interviews...Yeah you are right I should come up with these ideas, been busy with graduate courses lately and a little depressed without college bball and I am not a huge fan of baseball soooo it's been rough lol

Isn't it amazing how much things have changed? You can see it just in a poll like this. Look at all of that offensive talent and potential. That said, I'll still be surprised if it's someone other than Fouch with the season he had last year. I do think Bell is going to get better and better though. He's our Jake Odum on the football team, or Odum is our Bell on the basketball team. I know PGs and QBs often are compared but this is more about them being freshmen with loads of potential.

I'm also anxious to see what Cheeseborough, Egberongbe and Riston do this year as all three have the potential to be breakout players with Gates and Kent gone.

Offense to me is pretty clear cut--the team's success will be driven by Ronnie's success. Defensively, there are several possible choices. Sewall was voted the Defensive captain last year, and Fouch and Gates shared the Offensive captain award. It's interesting to me that 3 years ago they had Offensive and Defensive "captains" awarded at the banquet, 2 years ago a team MVP (Donye), and this past season back to captains. Obaseki and Archie will likely put up big numbers, assuming they stay healthy, but the issue with them is assignment discipline. Washington was the best defensive player at the end of last season, and hopefully will stay healthy all year in a single role. Sewall added more takeaways to his consistent tackle numbers, and should be able to reach 300 tackles this season (he needs something like 66). This would be a pretty nice accomplishment--looking at the media guide there have only been 12 Sycamores to reach 300, with the last being in 2003. In subsequent years, Archie and Washinton may also reach 300, assuming they stay healthy and productive.

Hilton is important no doubt but we need another guys to be receiving options...last year it seemed they would just rotate coverage over him and our passing game would disappear...alex Jones Value wise could be huge but we need another Wideout to be a regular target like Egberongbe...I EXPECT great things from Bell.

I wanted to go with Fouch or Bell, but decided not too. Sounds crazy, I know, but I don't have a name yet. I will give it (or 2 awards) to the O lineman who consistently protects Fouch and dominates D linemen in opening holes for Bell and company. If we have a good O line with 1 or 2 standouts--well those standouts will be my MVPs on the offensive side.

Fouch is clearly the key, not just to the offense's success, but to the teams. He is arguably the most important player in the MVFC. The RBs also need to stay healthy. I look forward to seeing Bell and Harris get 30+ carries between them. We will probably have the deepest group of talented receivers and tight ends in the last several years, and the OL is deeper and more experienced. If the offense can repeat what they did last year, and the defense steps up its play (and stays healthy) it should be a great season.

Do you think there will be any letdown with the OL with Simmonds gone or do you think it will remain consistent since Etheridge is still here?

I think it helps that Burke is still around also. He was one of them last year, and I'm sure he'll help keep the intensity up. Most of the OL is experienced enough to use what they learned from Simmonds and Etheridge last year. I'm not sure if any of the redshirt Freshmen will be able to contribute.

It would be a good sign if all of the upperclassmen hold them off. Would show a definite sign of program progress.

Hilton could really break out this year as well. The kid is NFL material.
You think so? That would be awesome for him to get into the League. He has amazing hands for sure. Hopefully he is dedicating himself this summer to getting better. He should have MONSTER numbers this year.
