WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

There is a reason we lost him. And yes he was totally committed to ISU before an unfortunate incident. I will say no more.

Crap......it's Summer, and I bet he get a nice whiff of the Terre Haute Waste Water Treatment Plant. Piss!!!

This sucks. He was our cornerstone in the post-Odum era. Hope he reverses again, although as was said earlier few decommits go back there.

I wouldn't go so far to say he was our "cornerstone", but he was certainly going to be a big part of our program from the moment he would have arrived on campus.

I do agree with you and others that the odds of him ending up in Terre Haute seem to be slim.

Don't like this action at all, but it's better that it happen now instead of playing for 3 years and then jumping ship. I wish him the best of luck and hope he still decides to be a Tree.

The other positive is he didn't sit on his commitment so Lansing has plenty of time to replace his commitment. Had Bryant held off to later in the process, we'd likely get stuck with second tier guys. A lot of our first tier offers are still on the table. Wonder if we revisit PJ Thompson now? I know he was supposed to be a Ball State lean but with them taking Zavier Turner last year there is much more PT to be had here.

Agree, time to move on. Lots of fish in the sea. As you say Svoboda, if he was not going to honor his commitment it is better to find out now than later. Really thought that young man had his head on straight but believe he started taking too much advice from other people.

If McIntosh and Mercer wind up at Michigan, then it is a good move for him.

New Butler coach Brandon Miller is from New Castle, as is McIntosh (originally). Wouldn't be shocked if that's in play.

I doubt when a kid reads a lot of the posts that are on here that it helps too much. Some people are so negative and others insinuate rumors but don't back them all up. He sounded like the one recruit that was thrilled to be a Sycamore. I feel sad for him having to make this decision. It had to be tough after all the positives that he said. I hope that he is honest in stating that he will still consider ISU. I hope Lansing can really get to the core of the problem so it does not repeat itself.

Did I miss something on here related to him? Everything I've seen has been overwhelmingly positive, almost to the point some people seemed to have blinders on. I thought I read posts about how committed this kid was to ISU. Guess not so much. I also thought Brenton Scott was supposed to be our future PG/Odum replacement.

Also, this doesn't make it sound like there was a problem (at least not with the coach):

“The way he handled it was 100 percent classy,” McIntosh said. “I’ll definitely still consider Indiana State when it’s time. Coach Lansing said he will continue to recruit me.”

here's how I view this, basically McIntosh gave Lansng the "It's not you, it's me" speech. We've all heard it from women before. They don't want to date, but let's remain "friends". The relationship will never work, the guy (Lansing) thinks there's still a chance, while the girl (McIntosh) knows there's no way in he double L that they'll get back together again.

So no need to continue recruiting McIntosh, he'll be a very good college player, unfortunately it won't be at ISU.

I don't think Lansing is that naive. I think he and the coaching staff will be moving on.

If the kid thinks he can get a scholarship with a bigger school then more power to him. Go for it. I don't like seeing ISU get turned into the bad guy though.

If McIntosh and Mercer wind up at Michigan, then it is a good move for him.

If the two of them get playing time, then one could say it is a good move. If the two of them would go to a school the size of Michigan and then play sparingly and be the 8th or 9th man for several years, then I don't know that one could argue it is a good move. It all depends on how much court time he would see. Too early to say it would be a good move. The proof would be in about four years.

In the end, only time will tell. He may sign with a "big name" school and be a star, he may sign with said school and not see much action at all. He may sign with a school that is the size of ISU and be a star, no one knows.

Again, I wish him the best, but I just worry that he will sign with the name of the school in mind and not become (or show the world) the player we all think he is or can be.

We definitely need to move on. We've probably invested a lot of time on him and I wouldn't waste any more.

No offense to anybody in particular but it's a darn shame that someone's word or handshake is not worth 2 cents anymore.

If I was Lansing I would move on. There are many players available yet...may not be players from IN from which the Sycamore staff would like to build a majority of team members. I hope he isn't getting too much "puffing" of his opportunity at bigger programs. I can't imagine having to live somebody else's mistake.

It would be a really bad move unless they like watching from the bench. That's my opinion. I've been wrong before, but not much.

I don't think its a guarantee they would be watching from the bench their entire careers. Im as bummed as anyone about him backing out on us but the kid is a player. I'd still love to see him here and I don't doubt that anywhere he goes he will make a serious contribution to that team in 4 years. The difference to me is he can come here from day one be an impact guy and become a big time college player where as at a big time program like Michigan or other high majors he will mostly sit a couple years and then most likely become a really solid player once he gets his chance. His game is just to solid not to be an asset to any team in the country. To me it is just a matter of the level of impact he makes at the college level. Here he has a chance to max out his potential, other places he might only become a solid role guy. Now Mercer Im not as confident in at a Michigan type level but he too would really blossom at a ISU type program.

Post on Twitter from a Scout guy stating Northwestern is interested. I'd imagine playing for Chris Collins is appealing since his favorite college team is Duke and Coach K. Could possibly play for a Coach K disciple in a fantastic city at a great school. Sucks to lose him, but I can understand his plight. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Great place to get an education but an embarrassingly awful basketball program. Easily the worst in the Big 10 historically and possibly the worst from a power conference in the entire country. They have never had an NCAA Tournament appearance. NEVER!!! Think about how awful you have to be playing all of these decades without ever making it in. You'd think they'd luck into it with as many Big 10 teams make it in every year.

Agree they have struggled in the past, but I will wager you a cold one at the Bally that Collins has them into the NCAA tourney by no later than his 4th year (probably his third).
