I wish the kid well and hope the information he's getting is correct. This will always be our problem at ISU when we get a fairly early commit from a really good player. The big schools never give up,they want all the players they can get as witnessed by the oversigning that occurs at almost evry big name school. They don't care, they can always sort the players out later if they don't progress and contribute enough. As everyone has said,at least we have time to find another recruit so it will probably work out.We will almost always be second choice in the state if the big schools are serious about a kid.Don't suppose that will ever change no matter how much success we have. Most of the really good players we have are late bloomers like Jake who got taller after all the spots were gone.Good players but not projected to be as good as he has turned out to be.That is our lot in life, like it or not.

Only way to change that is to have the decade butler just had where you propel yourself into that next level. But like you said tons of kids each yr go to these bigger name schools and get lost in the shuffle. The pub is greater at these schools but from a basketball stand point most of the fringe high major kids would be better off at a place like ISU.

We definitely need to move on. We've probably invested a lot of time on him and I wouldn't waste any more.

No offense to anybody in particular but it's a darn shame that someone's word or handshake is not worth 2 cents anymore.

Agree with everything you say here, but let's not put it all on McIntosh. It takes two to tango and I have more of a problem with other coaches who know that a kid has pledged to go to another school and continue to pursue. No honor among thieves. I know it happens all the time, but that doesn't make it any better. What's right is right, even if no one does it and what's wrong is wrong even if everyone does it.

Would not be surprised to see him end up at Butler (maybe) or South Alabama.........................just sayin'.

Cincy & Xavier are two other powers in the Greensburg neighborhood that might be "tampering"...

Seems like the only way that ISU will ever be able to "compete" in recruiting is when Etherington-like situations occur, and we're waiting in the shadows if the #1 school rescinds the offer. We can't give up...just gotta by more sly in the process.

I don't know about sly but a little luck wouldn't hurt. Remember Hersey Hawkins? Bradley took him because nobody else wanted a 6'3" center.

This hit us all in the face this time, but this is what Lansing faces every day in his recruiting.

Jason we need the ability to unfollow threads? Is that a function?

It's hard to read as I wanted the kid become a Sycamore - yes sad that he likely will not be a Sycamore. At the end of the day Bryant thought he was better than Indiana State and so he will get that chance to prove it and so be it.

In the grand scheme of things, big freaking deal - as many on here have suggested Lansing needs to move on. Now it's time for some of you as fans to move on - it's been talked about more than it even deserved in the first place.

No story here - move on. Kid and I Emphasize kid because he commits to a school before the end of his JR year and now as a SR has changed his mind, that isn't all that shocking even for someone who refered to this as his family - shame on anyone (even me) for thinking that Tweeter was Gospel and that the word "family" actually held weight in this day and age especially in the form of socially media.

Let this be a lesson - your never part of the family until you actually become part of the family!

Sycamore Nation, you can carry on now - the kid wasn't the next #33 any how and I find it hard to imagine he was the next #13.

Article from Tribune Star today about Bryant looking at other schools, his reason behind it and his relationship with Greg Lansing. Pretty good insight from Bryant and Todd Golden.

I do take issue with his opinion of ISU fans took the news - he acts as if this was Devastating news and we didn't take it well. This group of fans who represent the only group of Indiana State fans who even follow the recruiting process took it in stride so I don't know why Golden is trying to create some sort of a strife between Bryant and the Sycamore fans.

On a side note looked as if Bryant had a good tourney this weekend and even picked up more big time offers... Good for him, as he said it is a big decision and a life changing one at that - I simply wish someone in his corner would have advised him of that in the first place.

Life is ALWAYS changing...it's up to YOU to decide which flowers you want in your garden. Larry Bird showed that ISU soil can be as fertile as any in America. Perhaps McIntosh will learn this during his final Greensburg season, thus sticking to his original choice.

Obviously a slow sports day to spend so much space on a guy who will never play for ISU.I wish him well but really don't care why at this point. It's his life and his decision to make.Almost hate to see us get a top recruit early because it draws more attention to them. Most 16 or 17 year-old kids don't know what they want to do next week let alone 2 years from now.

I agree with SSOM, our fans go as far as surprising me in their restraint about our shun from Bryant. Personally, with an early commit like that, I felt the odds of him wearing a Sycamore uniform were slim and none. That is not because I knew anything you didn't and even as much info as the rest of you. I just didn't think it seemed sincere. Watching his "star" shine brighter since January didn't give me much confidence either.

These kids are constantly being hounded by parents, friends and coaches about THEIR future and eventually they have an inflated opinion of themselves. I truly wish him the best but it does show an inherent weakness that a true mid-major always deals with. There's ALWAYS a better deal out there. I do think Greg is an excellent recruiter, but I think I'd spend more time on "next" season, not two years out. I know that sounds harsh but until we are a consistent winner, this is going to happen again with early commits. Coach's personality can only carry you so far.

I didn't read the whole article, but saw the line about fans. I took it as a general statement about recruits who change their mind. Maybe not, but I've never seen a recruit get more love on here and less objective criticism than this guy. I can think of some current and former players who've been raked over the coals on here, but certainly not this kid.

Well it's no secret that God comes on this forum to get a barometer for what the rest of Sycamore Nation might be feeling - Todd has also been very vocal on this subject of "fans" on Twitter recently - so maybe he is being very general but I am not of that opinion.

One could also argue that the best worst thing that ever happened to this country was the internet. 15 years ago you didn't know a recruit had made a verbal until he had actually signed - thus a fan could never judge or be upset over a kid backing out and a kid could not go on the internet and make very positive remakes about his school of choice and then later change his mind and be judged for chaging his mind....

The group of fans on here took it very much in stride - I didn't see anyone on here who didn't wish him the best.

Same can be said for when RJ left - most people very thankful for his contributions here and hated to see him leave.
