Son if you still even make a trip down to Evansville I can't help you. The decision was made for you last night. Welcome to Indiana State!
My thoughts as well. Come be a part of something special and hopefully good things to come. I believe he was in attendance at UE's home game last night.

I think he was referring more to the fact that we are young, and talented enough to beat IU, as opposed to Eville which is probably a few years from being competitive.

If a kid only has a year or two left of eligibility does he want to spend it at a program with young talent on its way up, or a program doing a complete rebuild that most likely will not win the entire time that player is there.

I could be wrong though.

You know you can’t expect much else from them Evansville trolls. Haubstadt, IN coming on here trying to make a case for getting a recruit. Even if you got Williams your coach has proved for years it doesn’t matter what talllent he has ya’all will still suck.

Truth is, kid will be alright wherever he goes and he would likely get more PT at Evansville just because I don't think their roster is very good right now. Honestly don't think there is anyone in the Valley I'd trade rosters with save for maybe one or two clubs and it would be an antagonizing decision. Really like what we've assembled, especially with the 2018 additions.

Regarding Simmons:

"He'll take his and lose to yours, and then take yours and lose to his...."

I note where Arkansas State will play @ IU on Nov 22nd...will be interesting to see how they comparatively stack up in Bloomington. As is the "norm" in Eville, the Aces won the game @ the foul line, knocking down 16 more FT's.

My friend in Evansville, who has inside ties with the UE program, told me he already made his mind up on UE...

You could very well be right...but if he is so set on UE why not commit already? I assume the other visit is an Illinois school like ill at or Bradley. Hope he got to run some open court with the guys or at least take in a practice. The group he is joining for his last two seasons is no contest talent wise. There is a reason UE still has open spots and has struggled to land anyone of note for 2+ years. That roster is trash going forward

Yeah you’re going to have to compete for minutes here. You got Barnes, Key, Neese, Hughes and Washington that all have PG or SG abilities.

I think these valley teams see him more as a 2/3 and not the PG he was playing at the Bten level. Regardless, he would have to compete with Neese and Hughes for minutes there...But basically it would be those 5 guards you listed plus Williams eating all of the 1,2,3 minutes up with the best 3-4 of them getting starter type minutes. The one thing he would have going for him is he is defensive minded and Lansing loves him some defensive guys on the wing.

End of the day it just comes down to if they can get past the no scholarship thing for a 1/2 year. basketball wise if the kid is a competitor I think we are the slam dunk choice..Hell he wouldn't even be the "chosen" one in Evansville that gets 20+ shots and everything ran for him. Ryan Taylor will still be there next season.

Williams' publicized reason for leaving Iowa was "wanting to be closer to family", Evansville is almost the same exact distance to his hometown as Iowa City is. I'm sure playing time, and being an impact player had to do with his decision as well, but tough to see him going to E'ville "if" distance was such a big factor.

Closer to home sounds better than "I'm not as good as I thought I was."
