Makes it sound like he's going to walk here and should be here by next fall.

pbutler, he is a late bloomer. Here is an article explaining it:

“What makes Blake the most intriguing is he has not played organized basketball for very long. He’s a guy that’s only got two years of AAU experience, and he doesn’t have a lot of varsity experience either. So he picked up the game very late. The strides he makes every year, I’ve never seen anything like it before. So we may see him in two years and say ‘whoa.’ He’s got a chance to make money playing basketball one day of you ask me, I tell everybody that. He has a very high ceiling. He’s stepping out and hitting the 3 now, which is awesome for him. He’s an unbelievable athlete. And the best thing about him is he’s willing to learn. It’ll just be awesome to watch a guy like him progress. And whatever school he decided to go to is going to get a steal.”

Was also mentioned in this article:

“He picked the game around ninth grade and just picked it up naturally and has exponentially improved since then,” Rushing added. “If he got that much better in a short amount of time, you can only think he’s going to improve throughout first couple years of college ball.

Based on the physical appearance of his Dad, we should've also signed him for ISU FB (if he has any eligibility left)...

Given a couple years of diligent work w/ weights, "Jr." could easily become a 225+ PF.

Thanks for insight. Looks like he has potential to be a good player for us!

No problem... Definitely a boom or bust type of prospect since he has so little basketball under his belt. Can't teach that size if the 6'9", 225 pounds is accurate. I mean, he's likely no Michael Kernan but we can only hope, right?

I have always been a Lansing fan. The quality of recruits ISU is getting keeps getting better. We are getting recruits that some pretty good teams are wanting. This is where the on-court 'wins' are born. It looks like ISU is going to keep improving for the next 4-5 years. This is awesome.

I like to hear that Brinkmeyer is already showing some physicality and dunking everything he can. We've all shared frustrations over the last few years about our physicality around the basket offensively, so I like hearing that he's taking it hard to the hole and already has at least three victims he's dunked over in his short time on campus.

I would also like to see a few pictures or video of Blake now that he's on campus. He looked a little lean in his high school footage, so I'm curious if he's already been making strides in the weight room.

Blake is kind of an unknown at this point. We've talked a lot about Neese and Williams because there are immediate expectations, Bacote and Holston because they are transfers with some college game tape already, and Washington because he's local, but Brinkmeyer has kind of become the forgotten recruit. I have zero expectations for him, but I like what I'm hearing so far.

Is this guy practicing? I haven't heard much about him nor have I seen him in any practice pics.

Believe one of the videos said he is still coming back from knee surgery or something similar. I don't recall seeing him in the latest video. Might @ToddGolden to get an update and name for #24.

Does anyone know how serious Blake's knee problem is? I thought he had off-season surgery and was doing better.

Having played in 5 games already, wouldn't it have to be a request for a medical redshirt? And heck yeah, if he's not gonna play, please redshirt him!
