No. He was announced by Texas so I would assume he signed his NLI for next year.

Several of our former players have followed coaches or even prospects. If anything, hope they are helping us out on their way out the door.
I believe Swope helped us with Summers. I'm pretty sure they have a relationship.

the games I watched Larry was playing well - the Texas offensive strategy sucks. Dribble-dribble-dribble-no body open - heave up a prayer. Larry drives to the hoop and no one cuts to get open.

They have a top draft pick freshmen and they kinda just throw him the ball and say shoot. He’s very good I might add but I agree w your assessment

Ju will earn his keep and definitely has a role on that team…unfortunately for J Kent I think he was a perfect fit for last years team, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to all teams.

I mean… It’s difficult to carve out a role when you’re hurt? I don’t know what his injury is but he’s not even in box scores as on the bench.

This goes beyond being able to carve out a “role” unless you know something I don’t and he’s not actually hurt. I’m not following the situation at all - but just seems disingenuous to suggest he’s not fitting in while he’s hurt?

He may very well not fit in the end but not sure how that translates to his current situation?

I know nothing about his health but I did see him play earlier in the year and he did appear to struggle in their offense and did not rebound like he did for us. It's a different class of athletes compared to the ones he played against in the Valley. Maybe he needs a little more time or maybe he did have an injury.

Didn’t say anything about him not carving out a role….role was in reference to Larry…

Comment on Kent is that I don’t think he is a good fit for Texas. He was a wonderful cutter and UT has played a much more clogged style offense vs. the 5 (Robbie) playing at the top of the key and leaving lanes open.
They also have a top 10 pick playing PF that will certainly limit run for JKent.
He was dressed towards the end of the bench the other night.

I wasn’t attacking your boy by any means. Just stating that not everyone translates. Kent was in the perfect situation cutting off Ju and Robbie, hell and Jabo…and playing next to shooters like Conwell and Swope.
Good for him getting paid, but doesn’t mean the fit is always there. One of my sons still talks about him all the time…I’m not rooting against him by any means…hell, I hope he gets healthy and finishes his career strong. He’s a great kid!

I didn’t think you were really “attacking” per se. I just thought maybe you knew something I didn’t and if you didn’t it was a little early given his lack of PT due to injury to suggest it’s not a good fit. That’s all.

The TL;DR for this is many MM stars are trading being "the man" and a smaller check for being "JAG" and a bigger payday.

Larry get's PAID, gets to hang out on 6th Street in Austin, grab lunch at Franklin BBQ or Salt Lick...spent his Saturdays with 100,000 friends at DKR Stadium watching SEC football, has his childhood friends and family more likely to get to attend in person to see him play and can enjoy the networking of the UT academic and athletic departments...he's doing OK for himself. He's the one I most "get" making the move he did.
