Found out last night that I am also going to this game! I don't wanna hear anyone on this forum say that I am not a fan of the Indiana State Football program ever again, give me something worth supporting and I will show my support. I've been given a reason to watch this team and I can't wait for it to start!

SSOM, you're not a fan of the Sycamore football team. There, I said it...

If you want to see one of our future opponents, WKU is playing Kentucky tonight on one of the ESPN stations.

ESPNU
WKU leads the Wildcats early 3-0. For you MIC fans out there former Carmel Greyhound Morgan Newton is the QB for UK.

Strange game so far. Anyone else curious as to why two KENTUCKY teams are playing in Nashville at the Titan's stadium? Makes little sense to me. That is no different than the two playing here in Indy at the Luke. Certainly was not scheduled because of all the Nashville football fans. Both schools might draw more at home!

Is there a significant UK alumni base in Nashville? WKU is a 'short' drive from Nashville...

Parking Information for the Western Kentucky game

Here's some parking information for Western Kentucky:

http://www.wkusports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=5400&ATCLID=205214128

and

https://admin.xosn.com/fls/5400/FB%20Tailgaiting%20Map%202011.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=5400

The first page states, "The Parking Structure 1 Garage located on the north side of Diddle Arena remains admissible on game day free of charge. This provides approximately 500 covered free parking spaces and is part of over 4,500 free paved parking spaces available throughout campus for fans attending football games." (Emphasis mine.)

It looks as if you only pay if you want to park in a tailgating area or if the 4,500 free spots fill up. They had from 15,000 to 21,000 fans at similar home games last year. Maybe a WKU fan will pop in and give us more insight into their parking situation.

They lost to Navy 40-13 at home. Don't want to get my hopes up too high, but we could win this one if the defense shows up.

I watched them against Kentucky. In order to beat these guys, the defense will absolutely have to play better. That said, their QB isn't very good IMO so if they start Jakes, we'll need to sell out on the run big time. Rainey is a very good back with deceptive speed and ran hard against Kentucky and he is averaging over 100 yards per game -- probably their lone bright spot on offense. Defensively, they're better than their record shows. They get pressure and do a good job getting to the ball. I really liked their LB Jackson and DE Smith in the Kentucky game. Our offense will need to be on point in this one for sure.

Rainey was the third leading rusher in the country last year. We will have to be strong up front to limit him. I think it's almost a good thing that the defense sucked against Butler--they have something to prove this week. If our offense can stay away from turnovers, they should put some points up (not 48, but hopefully enough to win). Why is it that this team seems to be so schizophrenic (defense plays well, offense sucks; offense plays well, defense sucks...). I like that our special teams are much better, although J-Hill needs to actually field a punt, and as long as they keep kicking to Riston, we're good. We need to remember that, while they are not Penn State, W. Kentucky is still a BCS-level team, and ISU needs to play a near-flawless game to win.

What's amazing to me is that 20 years ago (or thereabouts) WKU football was in pretty bad shape. I've been told that they were close to dropping the sport. Then, they decided to invest in the program, got a great coach, and the rest is history. Now, I honestly don't want to jump to FBS, but they are proof that a comeback like ours does happen, there's no reason we can't become an FCS powerhouse. It's really a good story...

WKU has won 12 straight against this week's opponent Indiana State and is 14-5-1 all time against the Sycamores.
