Further, if that does end up being the case, Indiana State should be having discussions now on how to improve and maximize their Internet streaming to make sure it is a quality product with great production value. That could be their only way to market and capitalize on athletics.

Even though it's not official, we'll have our annual 1 - 2 home games vs D2, D3, NAIA type schools too. And I'm still convinced we'll have a MAC/Horizon/Summit/OVC team as our home opener to reopen Hulman Center (if they're done with it)

when's the last time we played an NAIA team in basketball? I know we played a Div III team in mid-season during the McKenna tenure and Waltman era; Lansing usually has 1 Div II game on the home schedule but if peers won't sign a H/H with us, I'm not how else you get a home game

Hate that we're "forced" into hosting a Div II team but few options for the program

This seems like quite the step down from the tournaments of the last 10 or so years. Other than the Great Alaskan Shootout we participated in a few years back, most of our non-con tournaments include some shots at a few high-major programs. This isn't the worst lineup of mid-majors, but I'd rather have a crack or two at the big boys since NET ranking is so important for tie breakers in our league.
 
Losing to ECU, MTSU, or Fordham would be a killer. Losing to Omaha wouldn't be all that good either. Delaware, Akron, and Vermont were all solid last season. Vermont is always good every year so they should be the favorites in this tournament. This is definitely a winnable tournament for us though. Obviously some of it depends on the draw. Like if we drew Vermont the first game and we lost we might get stuck playing Fordham and ECU in the losers bracket which would also be a killer.

I'd think Akron and then likely us. I watched Akron this past year and they have several guys that can fill it up. They have a little JB like guard and a couple really big post players. One dude looked like Myles Walker but with a couple more inches.

I hear there is a lot of wheeling and dealing that goes on between the promoters, networks, and coaches when it comes to these MTEs. Many mid-majors, if they want to play in a a higher-profile MTE in year X, have to agree to also play in lower-profile MTE's in years Y and Z--as well as make other concessions or meet other demands. I'm sure we'd love to play in the Battle for Atlantis or Maui Invitational every year but there's good reasons why it doesn't happen.

Not ISU, but it sounds like MSU is going to play Missouri in a home and home series with the first game in Springfield. Loyola is also getting a home and home with DePaul. Maybe with the pandemic we, along with some other MVC schools will be able to get some home and homes with P6 programs.

This is where I hope our state legislature comes in and lays down the hammer. This should be a common sense thing, but if the local schools refuse, it should be a mandate for any institution that receives any government assistance. Travel costs is one of the bigger money pits and I'd love to see us have a "Tour of Indiana" every year. Hell, I wish every Indiana school was on our schedule every year -- give me IUPUI and Fort Wayne over UMSL and the Art Institute of Indiana.

While some may disagree I would be perfectly fine with home and homes against IUPUI and PFW. Heck add EIU, SIUE, SEMO, WIU, and Murray State to that list. There are plenty of D1 schools we can schedule that are within a bus ride away.

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll put this here . Bart Torvik has put together is VERY early predictions for the 2020-2021 basketball season, and he's picking ISU to finish 3rd in the conference again with an 18-11 overall record (11-7 in the MVC).

He also put together some individual statistical projections, which I find interesting. Key is projected to lead the team in scoring (shocker), but LaRavia is projected to finish at 12 and 8 per game. I think he might be a little light on Tre's projections and possibly too bullish on Cooper's, but overall this kind of makes sense.

I suppose it's good to see some analytical simulations that show we aren't expected to take a step back this year.
