didn't Shrewsberry leave the Celtics to replace Greg Gary on that coaching staff?

Gary just finished his first season at Mercer

The other rumor is he came back to Purdue to learn more under Matt before taking our job. There has been a longstanding rumor that he is the hand picked guy by Clink. We'll see I suppose.

Unless we increase the current head coaching salary by $98,000+; something tells me Shrewsberry isn't going to be jumping the opportunity.

Western Michigan ousts Steve Hawkins after 17 seasons...

Broncos were 13-19 this yr; fifth in the MAC West Division. He was 291-262 overall, led Broncos to2 NCAA tournaments, with the recent coming in 2014.

He'd been with the school for 20 yrs overall

Dan Marjele fired at GCU. I'd be interested in him for our sake if we end up needing a new coach anytime soon.

"Thunder Dan lead the Antelopes to their first tournament victory as a Division I team when they won the 2015 GLobal Sports Classic championship. The 2015-2016 season is when he started a string of winning at least 20 games per season. But that streak ended in the 2019-2020 season, where they finished 13-17 overall and 8-8."

That's so dumb. Firing a coach, with a .604 winning percentage, after ONE losing season.

Recruiting did him in it appears. Transfers and then guys that were academically ineligible. Had Jaylen Fisher been eligible, I have to think they win the WAC. He was the kid that burned us from TCU. Probably would have averaged 30 in that league.

Rob Ehsan from UAB fired after a 19 and 20 win seasons. I mean he seemed like a good coach to me, another possible target in my opinion.

Is there a coaching search under way at the corner of 4th & Chestnut in downtown Terre-dise?

Goodman's Twitter

A pretty good early source. Goodman keeps pretty well up to date about all things NCAA involving basketball.

I’m not sure if you misread this or if you simply misspelled it, but he’s going to Iona. Not Iowa.

Losing continues to be the worst thing you can do as a head coach. As long as you win, no matter how and under what circumstances, you will continue to get employed.

Thanks for the catch, I didn't do either -- i'm so quick to "accept" the mis-spelled "notice" (red underline) that I accepted it's suggested fix

agree on your point, esp for a slimeball such as Dick Pititno --- i recall an espn commentator saying that pitino could be "forgiven" for being uninformed "...because coach pititno had some legal issues in his life at that time."

what that idiot commentator refused to include about his pitino defense was WHY dick pitino was being extorted

Odds are 60/40 that before he retires/is fired or resigns under disgrace, Iona and the CFC will regret bringing pitino to new rochelle. Cheetahs don't change their spots

Do you think he'll come calling for our assistant coach Kareem Richardson? Wasn't he at Louisville with Pitino at one time?

I haven't a clue, care or concern who will comprise his Iona staff; in the ESPN article he is completely verklempt about working with his kid - maybe Lil' Dick Pitino will resign from Minnesota and follow his corrupt father; his Gofer teams aren't exactly DOMINATING the big ten...

A pretty good gig just filled per espn ............ Bryce Drew hired as head coach at Grand Canyon. Nice location, pretty good pay, lots of support. Probably not a lot of pressure if you are "better than a .500 coach" consistently.

thinking Richardson spent 1 season at The 'Ville with Dick Pitino, course per the NCAA, that season (2012-13) no longer exists for the Redbirds

with the truck load of garbage behind Pitino, not sure why Richardson would want to add himself to that mix

Pitino claims he's "going to do it right" at Iona...

doubtful
