2024 Offseason Coaching Movement

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

How much money should the Sycamore Varsity Club/Foundation raise from the thousands of basketball invigorated alumni/ae?

How many millions/year? Give me a number and then we can measure if the ISU family is stepping up to the plate.

Which is more likely to lead to sustained success: plying MBB players with hundreds of thousands of dollars each with them totally free to relocate each year or investing in the facilities and enhanced team and game environment.

It's difficult to admit, because I was a huge ISU Fball fan during the Miles & Sandford regimes, nostalgia, but diverting funding to the basketball & baseball programs makes a whole lot of sense. Certainly an emotional & difficult decision, but if the University is unable or unwilling to fund baseball and basketball at championship levels, then I'm all for doing what's necessary to make this happen.

As much as I don't want any athletic program cut, I desire even more for the University to do everything it possibly can to secure current and future success for our two marquee sports. Last year's baseball and this year's basketball has provided an amazing fan experience, and I want more :0)

Thousands? From The Alumni Association, we have over 100 Thousand alumni. Wouldn’t your well thought out approach to capitalizing on this teams amazing year to fundraise? They know the game. You guys just think eliminating football is the answer to Swoop transferring to OU because he got a 100k NIL (for example)? Butts in the seats, Alumni donations, continuous marketing campaigns in Naptown and ChiTown ect…..
NO, let’s get rid of football will solve all our needs. GUYS?

Yes we all want more. But The Yellow Brick Road does not end with eliminating football! I went to the Super Regional in Ft. Worth, several Arch Madness in St. Louis. Magical years. Also at (because my brother and nephew played for Warn) several baseball games where they had more folks at the graveyard in Left Field visiting family then in the stands watching a baseball game.
Capitalize from the frenzy, and understand, eliminating football is robbing Peter to pay Paul. Temporary fix.

You mean like they already have? The most recent extension was private fundraising done by Clink and what got him fired because the totality of the raise would have made HCJS paid more than Deb and she lost her shit. Additionally, our NLI program has already raised several hundred thousand that has been distributed to the current roster.

Again, you're being disingenuous and know damn well what we're talking about here. We spend between $4 and $5 million annually on football. You can make a very strong argument it has no return on investment, and quite possibly a negative return on investment because of how bad it has been historically. Additionally, over the last decade plus, each football win comes at a cost of over $1 million dollars on average. On a level of football that nobody cares about on the national level which is about to be pushed down yet another tier.

If any program should be tasked with raising funds, it's from football and it's supporters. We've suggested a compromise of taking $1-1.5m away from football and diverting it to basketball and you guys weren't interested saying we weren't discussing the topic in good faith ourselves. As if.

I’ll respond tomorrow Jason. I’m at my grandson basketball game, but those points, I got a little something for you. Just can’t do it now.

Also, If Clink was looking and continuous for a job while supposedly investing his time on ISU Blues interest? Yes, I’d fire that Fucker in a heart beat.

If it isn't backed with substantive data, don't bother. I'm done discussing football "supporters" feelings.

And I get dollars today and next year. I’m taking long term 10 years. I have a email into the new mayor. He might have a little something. I’ll respond tomorrow when I do my research and paste

I already know what you're going to attempt. You're trying to formulate your response around Homecoming when nobody gives a shit there is a football game going on. For years, the majority of people that showed up at Memorial stayed on the outside and partied. They came for Homecoming the event, the Walk, and tent city... not for football but I'm interested in seeing your reach trying to tie the economic impact of the event to football.

How shallow do you have to be to think he was actually looking for another job?

Saturday will be a small pilot for what a homecoming could look like during our basketball season. It could greatly be expanded from what Saturday will be, but the idea that if we don't have FB ppl wouldn't show up for a walk/tailgate event is laughable.

Jason, you have a lot of influence over these posters. I have news for you, we are what we are. You have this fantasy that spending more (millions) on basketball will beget us into Zags Country? Dude, your Pide Pipper instrument doesn’t work on me. Didn’t work for several universities that dropped football and funded basketball. We are who we are.

I think you meant "Pied Piper."

More handwaving. Awaiting your detailed analysis. Here is some source material for you to use in your response:

You can see the 990s and where revenues come from with both. Would appreciate if you also explained to me how all of the teams have to each give $100k to the MVFC so the organization doesn't go bust because it, like our program, is not a profitable endeavor.
