Shoulda been POY.

Paul Oren (Valpo beat) said that Avila edged out DeVries when they consider the 35 conference only categories for POY. throw in the conference championship as the trump card and it's amazing the votes came out the way they did.

Devries is a a real nice player. One of the best in the valley. But there is a real legit argument that he shouldn't have been POY this year or last year (Roman Penn was the best player on their TEAM).

I'm envisioning a Sunday in the STL where Sycamores out number Drake fans 4 to 1. Sycamores with a 15+ point lead with about 2 minutes to go. And the entire arena is chanting "M.V.P." for Avila as the clock ticks down. Justice will be served then

It's probably just a rehash of the same talking points we have seen on the other "news" sites. I shared it more for the fact that it is the WSJ and not a "sports" site.

Honestly, I completely understand paywalls -- if more papers had established them; they'd still be in business today...

FWIW -- there is an audio versison... no paywall "entrance", it's maybe 2 minutes worth of the articles highlights

the WSJ typically covers some sports but as you mentioned, it's NOT a sports site...

After this year is done will Robbie have 2 years or 3 years of eligibility left? I guess my question is does Robbie get a covid 5th year???

The question was asked... And he handled the answer really well. It was more of a question than encouragement - but Robbie gave a good but somewhat PC answer.
It was a pretty funny segment. Pat has a huge following and offering the whole team NIL is pretty cool. Winning the NIT aside, what would be great is if Pat offered Robbie the $150k in NIL to stay @ Indiana State (and not leave the state of Indiana where Pat is based) and be a feature on their show throughout next season.

One of the best parts is how many times Pat refers to Indiana State as "we".

I get we don't have the deep pockets like SLU, but we have some really good marketing opportunities.

Good job Robbie!

I’ll tell you right now, the media exposure and hype dies the minute they go to SLU/move on. Outside of SLU the attention won’t be the same as they have here

Go to youtube and find it... @Jason Svoboda isn't paying me enough to be here right now.

He basically said - Indiana State has stepped up it's NIL game and that money isn't everything... The program, the people you are with the community all matter. That's not verbatim but that's basically what he said.
I did like how he said something about how it’s going up from this year to next or something like that
