People have regarded this kid as the best player in the history of Greene County. That is pretty damn good considering you have the likes of Brody Boyd and the Graves brothers from the area. I think you go for it. And I’m not saying that because I’m a Greene County resident. This kid is a Power 5 talent. You have to look at guys like Cooper, Odum, Jake Kelly as comparable local talents that we have landed. This kid is a better athlete than that list hands down. Yes we need a 4-5 man. But you take best available for your 13th scholarship.
4 me, when duz all of the Joey H conversation stop? He's never going to be a SYCAMORE, so why is there this endless conversation about him that goes back to what,1897?There wasn't much to remember.
I'm not saying you are not correct, but college shooting is way harder than HS due to the length of the shots, defense, and endurance. Crawford's %'s were very, very high his FR year. Most high-scoring HS players save a lot of their energy for shooting.IMO Hart has the athleticism of a Cam Crawford, but a better shot.
Big Joey Hart fan here. Anybody watched recent game film? He also has a couple highlight videos from this year on his Twitter that are fire. His game definitely translates to the college level. I think ISU would be lucky to have him, and so does CJS, apparently. I *think* he’s wanting to stay close, but does have several Power 5s in contact, and one P5 offer so far, although it’s halfway across the nation. I think ISU fans should jump on it.
I watched a game. I would like to have him at State, but he would have to sit a year. Someone like Larry could eat him alive.Big Joey Hart fan here. Anybody watched recent game film? Yes. Since we have Shetlar, Daughtry, Gray and Conwell; we should go for need now.
Agree with all this except relying on teammates to get shot. I can tell you have seen him play.I have. I believe he is a quintessential mid major player. I’d grade him MM/MM+ and that isn’t saying he couldn’t play at HM level, he would just likely need 2 years to develop there versus having a more immediate and larger impact at the MM level.
Likes:
- Pretty shot. Nice release point, actually gets lift off the floor vs set shot like many.
- Sneaky bounce when he chooses to use it.
- Hit every FT I saw him take.
- Seems emotionally stable.
- Seems to make the smart play.
Dislikes:
- Seems to rely around teammates getting him a shot. This could have been game specific.
- Didn’t punish lesser players when he had the ball. Want to see him attack those guys.
- Didn’t see much of a back-to-the-basket game.
Development:
- If he works on his aggression, he will be a very good multi dimensional player.
- Develop a midrange back to the basket turnaround a la Domask at SIU or DeVries at Drake. This is a huge skill in close games where team needs a high percentage bucket.
- Work on his lateral agility.
How could you possibly read this thread and say the posts are pretty negative? There are people here saying he’s the best player in county history! These posts are pretty negative. Wouldn’t have thought that. Truth is, although Graves reoffered, JS wasn’t sold on him until he saw him play in person. Loved him, but it was a little late in the recruiting game by then. No shade on Schertz, he’d just gotten there.
None of this is negative towards Hart. It's merely people discussing their opinions on the needs of the team. Having been discussing ISU sports here for 16 years, not days, I am pretty sure just about everyone will be happy if he comes here. It's always good to have local talent - if they can play. These posts are pretty negative. Wouldn’t have thought that. Ok. I just got on here to see what the vibe in the area was. It’s free, so why not, right? I’m sure others are doing the same. Anyhow, hope the Trees have a great season. I’m sure they will with CJS.How could you possibly read this thread and say the posts are pretty negative? There are people here saying he’s the best player in county history!
It’s completely fair and objective to discuss whether his skill set fits with the current roster construction. That’s not a negative on Joey; rather, it’s just the reality of how the 2023-2024 Sycamores work their rotations (and years beyond). I’m always a fan of best player available recruiting, but in todays transfer portal world we have to make sure we’re keeping promises with playing time, role and fit. Right now we have one scholarship open and a pretty glaring need at the 4/
