Doing some really quick checks into academic profiles, it appears NDSU and SDSU are very similar to the Mountain West members added to the Pac6. If I were the presidents/AD at the Dakota States, I'd be lobbying the PAC aggressively.

Not saying the PAC would actually ever do it, but they'd be hard pressed to find better football programs to add to the conference after their initial four. Those schools could/will be scary with added resources and FBS funding.

Schools this affects:
South Dakota State: do they make the jump?
North Dakota State: do they make the Jump?
New Mexico: I wonder why they were left out? Seems like a natural fit.
Air Force: I'm guessing AAC is their future
Nevada: just like NM, Nevada seemed like a natural fit to go them in the new conference.
Wyoming: tough position, the MWC was their perfect conference
San Jose State: not in a good position at all
Montana State: do they make the jump?
Montana: do they make the jump?

All in all, I really like the MWC they seemed like one of the last true conferences where the members fit together real nicely, sad to see it go. I'm guessing the AAC makes some moves on this. Or the Mountain West remains a conference with:
Air Force
New Mexico
Wyoming
UNLV
Nevada
San Jose State
North Dakota State
South Dakota State
Montana
Montana State

UNLV fans are on fire they didn't get an invite on local sports talk.

They have to add 2 more by 2026 and I think they actually have to have at least 10 to get an automatic bid into the NCAAT.

I'm not going to lie a conference of

Oregon State
Washington State
Colorado State
Wyoming
San Diego State
New Mexico
Nevada
UNLV
Boise State

and then 1 of:
Air Force
San Jose State
Fresno State

That's a damn good conference that is stable. Hell if you want to go to 12 then add the entire current MWC. NM, UNLV, Wyoming, and Nevada being left out of the current alignment is head scratching.

Another question I have is does USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington stay in the BIG 10 long term. I know that's a separate conversation because tv money would is not even close to consider a move but just with realignment it causes things to happen we just don't know what until it happens.

The only way they don't is if the whole system collapses on itself. I'm not sold on the long term viability of the college pro model. I ultimately think big pools of money dry up, especially in the next 20 years looking at how bad the overall economy is with regard to debt, entitlements, etc.

Also seeing piracy really trending up because these media conglomerates are getting greedy and everyone is starting their own streaming service like the old cable TV days.

Exactly. When Terre Haute, IN is in the blackout zone for the Cubs, what is the point in paying for MLB.tv?

YouTube TV is worth it because of the multi-screen option, the pirate sites haven't figured that option out yet.

Know what you mean. I found a browser called Vivaldi (Chromium based) that lets you do tab tiling and that's the closest I've been able to re-create. Only thing is most lock their video on the page for their ad banners so you can't fullscreen and lose some real estate.

100% -- it will be gamble that they will have to try to rationalize if it is worth it or not. If not from endowments, they'll probably try to sell it to their big academic donors, I'd imagine. This may be the one time they could essentially go to those people if they're selling the academic prestige.

Copy - the problems is the Cougs, the Beavers don't SCREAM Academic Prestige by themselves and the Pac-12's prestige left with Stanford, Cal, UCLA, U$C and arguably U.Wash (WA)

Not sure what program is prestige-laden in the Mtn West

Marketing. Give them a bunch of ESPN Stats to make it look good. Sell a bunch BS and promises. Hook, Line, Sinker.

Kinda odd to break this type of news on a late Wednesday evening but okay lol.....I'm all for them (Oregon State & Wash St) trying to keep alive the legendary Pac 12 even if they are basically just raiding the Mountain West. It's never gonna be what it used to be when you loose schools like USC,UCLA, Oregon, Washington and Stanford but it can still be a solid slightly above mid major conference. San Diego State and Boise State are very good additions. I would also go after the likes of Wyoming, UNLV, Utah State and North Dakota State to name a couple.

Saw some sports talk people floating the idea of the teams that went to the ACC returning to the Pac12.
Saw similar talk on Reddit, but apparently Cal hates Fresno State (?) so their fans say it's a no go.

Personally I would hope that the adults in the room could realize that what they're paying in travel to play at Tallahassee and Chappel Hill isn't worth sticking your nose up at the school an hour down the road out of spite, but that's just me.

How does the saying go....if "if" was a fifth, we all would be drunk.

That's the problem, we have adults acting like children in these rooms.

Not going to happen. I'm pretty sure Cal and Stanford are locked into the ACC's GOR that runs through 2036 and would have similar legal issues that Florida State and Clemson are having. I've also heard that "Calford" wants nothing to do with Boise State because they view them as inferior academically. If those two schools wanted to rebuild the PAC with MWC (and AAC) schools then they would've stayed in the first place.

No school is leaving a power/autonomous conference to be in a non-power/autonomous conference. The fact sports radio hosts were floating this idea is….exactly what I expect of sports radio hosts. lol
