Just gave up 88 points... An absolutely unacceptable performance from a team that showed so much promise. For as much as this coach has talked about D his team doesn't play any D. I can't understand how you allow 88 pints to this team.
Yep - defense lost this game. Everywhere else where we thought Duquesne would have the advantage, we actually outplayed them. They beat us at our own game by shooting over 40% from three, over 50% overall, and they made their free throws (23-26).

Duquesne is actually a pretty bad free throw shooting team, but of course they decide to go unconscious today.

We as a team just lack some important emotional intelligence. Despite how old we are on paper, we are very immature and volatile.

I’ve said it numerous times that I like us playing with an edge, a fire, but today we absolutely let it get to us and never really recovered. Voss was dominant early on, and he let his emotions completely neuter him.
This says it all.

Still undefeated in conference. Who gives a damn about a game where you start off with a tech before the tip-off.

Bledson, Gibson better figure it out before they get lost on the bench for the rest of the season. McCauley killed our momentum today with his tech. Duquesne had some dudes. They aren’t a bad team. They would be a title contender in the MVC for sure.

Bold prediction: we don’t lose at home the rest of the way, and might not lose again. It really depends on how many undisciplined techs we get and how bad the refs hate us on a particular night.

No way we go undefeated, but we now play a weak NIU team at home and then 4 straight against the Valley’s bottom. Win these 5 and you’re sitting @ 14-3 going into a home game against SIU.

Go into that game 6-0 or even 5-1 in conference and who gives a shit about Duquesne and USI. This is not to say we don’t have a TON to clean up.

Sub out Stephens for Avila, and this was the starting lineup I predicted early on. Obviously Avila is starting over him now for a reason.

Not sure we need to be starting Gibson going forward until he cleans up the turnovers.
Don't think Gibson should ever be playing. Really looks like a D2 player trying to play D1 ball.

My take-aways.

1. I could see this loss coming around the six minute mark.
2. Voss is a head case.
3. I appreciate Julian Larry playing downhill, but more often than not, he needs to tap-the-brakes, or hit the off ramp.
4. Neese. The greatest...and most useless Pump Faker of All-Time.
5. Is it my TV, or are McKnight's legs really short for a 6' 9" man?
6. Bledson, Voss, Henry and gawd knows who else, need to STOP with the FLEXING.
7. When the head case came back in, I knew we were going to lose, and that he was going to throw up some crazy 3 like it was an ISU Campus Intramural Fraternity game, and he did.
8. Did I mention that Neese's game has gone backwards? Where's that sweet lil turn-around fade away jump shot that he used to have?
9. Henry constantly runs his mouth to the ref's as if it's going to make a difference. He spends most of his time JAWING.
10. Avila needs more minutes, more touches, and if there is one person that needs to take leadership of this team, it's him.
11. Gibson and our other D2 players showing that they are LEGIT D2 players.

Mr. Negativity.

I agree with the head cases but the attack on Henry I won’t ride with. He has been our best player this season on both ends as far as making winning plays. His attitude is head and shoulders above last season. Yes Neese needs to let it fly more and stop with the fakes. But my no means is he going backwards. He’s playing under control and letting the game come to him. I like what I see. Voss is our leading scorer….PERIOD. If you don’t want our best scoring asset to take shots when we need buckets, I can’t help ya.

You do know we lost today, right?

I'm not a basketball guy...I know how I would work with guys on pad level or pass pro posture, etc (o-line coach)....I think I asked this of some of you more knowledgeable b-ball guys last year...I wonder if there are a series of drills or techniques to teach guys how to FINISH at the rim? We miss so many damn points around the rack because we miss the "bunnies" as one of you accurately mentioned earlier in this thread.

I’m aware. I also know that we aren’t “supposed” to win A10 road games. I also bet Drake won’t beat St Louis tonight on the road. We beat that team at home 9/10 times I guarantee it. Yes we should have won based on the leads we had throughout the game. Yes you have to be frustrated in the result. But no I ain’t cashing it in. We are about to wreck the next 9 or so games in a row.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Sycamores got off to a hot start Saturday afternoon at Duquesne as they opened up the game with a 20-4 run, but that unfortunately would not last as Indiana State (9-3, 2-0 MVC) fell to the Dukes (9-3, 0-0 A-10), 92-86.

I didn’t watch because I had to do some Christmas shopping, but here’s my take away. We went 2-2 on a 4 game road trip. And we could argue we should have won the two we lost. I don’t think any of that screams “We are horrible,” like some of the comments seem to imply.

We’re gonna be fine, and the guys will appreciate playing at home again. No more four game road swings. We’re gonna win a lot of games this season. Enjoy it and don’t let the hiccups take your joy.

Yes, I needed this advice a few days ago. 😁

What was the pregame technical assessed for????? Failure to submit the starting lineup 10 minutes before tip??? Incorrect # or failure to have
a player listed???? All are the responsibility of an assistant coach. It happened in a women's game at ISU (against ISU) for failure to have the
lineup in on time....several years ago...as in more than 10. Side note: A good scorekeeper will make sure that doesn't happen. Ask me about it sometime.........
